real estate: Not much Snow on Snow Rd. - 09/22/10 09:02 AM

The name is a little of a misnomer since we're right her in South East Texas pretty near the Gulf Coast.  And, it only snows her maybe once every 10 or 12 years ever since I was a kid.  But here goes.....

real estate: A Bloggy about a Doggy! - 09/20/10 03:50 PM

Special clients make this business a priviledge.

One of my first clients was one of my children’s early teachers.  This delightful lady let me sell her house after she had gone through a painful divorce.  A kindly couple had befriended her and taken her and her children into their home.  These folks had tried unsuccessfully to sell their house through a large National company.  They had learned that the company did not make as much difference as the agent that one chooses.

My first visit to the house gave me a pretty good idea why the house had … (3 comments)

real estate: Priorities - 09/18/10 09:28 AM
Today we took some time to visit a friend at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital. That place beings new meaning to the concept of State of the Art. Even the parking procedures are so high tech state of the art it's a little intimidating to park.  But, I'm thinking that when we go back tomorrow to visit, it won't be quite as intimidating.
Texas Medical Center is one of the best Medical facilities in the world. It was home to pioneers in the field of Medicine like Dr. Michael DeBakey the heart surgeon and too many others to name. Due to the … (2 comments)

real estate: Ode to the Once Nice Drive on Northwest Houston's FM 1960 - 09/17/10 10:57 AM

If you have driven down FM 1960 lately you are aware that the margin of error as well as your ability to make turns into businesses on the left hand side of the road have been eliminated.

UGLY and pretty much useless concrete esplanades and curbs have been created and placed where there was open space and painted lanes. Painted lanes do not prohibit turns, nor do they jar alignment when a neighboring car gets too close to you and pushes you over. Paint also does not create serious ugly.

There has been talk about creating beauty in … (4 comments)

real estate: 32 years ago! Wonder how many that is in Realtor years? - 09/16/10 05:01 AM

The very first customers I worked with were a delightful couple.  They had stable income and realistic expectations.  I was not the agent I now.   Due to my inexperience, we looked at a myriad of homes and these people, who we will call “Bob and Naomi” for the story, came to me right after I had gotten my license.  Real Estate licenses, I soon learned, were licenses to get into trouble. The classes I took did not equip me to serve the needs of anyone.  I knew the basics of how to open houses via lock boxes, to research … (3 comments)

real estate: Friendly Negotiations? Is it a lost Art? Emphasis on Friendly. - 09/15/10 02:46 PM

It is always an amazement to us that so many agents in our business want to turn the negotiation process into an adversarial sport.

Lets talk about that! Each of us represents a party to a transaction. The process was designed to look out for the best interests of each party. In the beginning, we draw up an offer for the party we represent. We bring the offer to the sellers agent. The sellers agent talks to the seller and they make a counter offer with what they feel will work best for them.

The offer then comes … (5 comments)

real estate: Revisiting the Scene in The Woodlands! - 09/13/10 11:19 AM

About a year ago we were given a referral. It was a lovely couple from out of the country. The husband was being transferred in by his companies administration.
We were given the pleasure of showing these folks homes in an area they had predetermined that they wanted to live in.
On the second day we found the perfect house for them. It was new construction by one of the most recognised builders in the area. For that matter they were one of the best in the nation. This house was everything the transferees had told us they wanted. The … (2 comments)

real estate: Yes there is a City named STAGECOACH!! - 09/06/10 01:45 PM
Yes!  Although the name, CITY OF STAGECOACH TEXAS brings to mind covered wagons, Indian attacks, and wild animals a city of than name does exist.  It is north and west of downtown Tomball Texas.  Here amid ancient trees are homes on acreages varying in size and style.
The city also boasts two area lakes, a large park with covered pavilion, and a municipal building.  It comes with its own City Council, Mayor and entire city government.  Here is an opportunity to participate in your local politics, in case you are so inclined.

real estate: End of Summer 2010 out in Good Old TOMBALL TX - 09/04/10 02:54 PM
Last year about this time,  we were blessed with an informative seminar which was just the best way TO END THE SUMMER. But we had to brave the big city of Houston all they way from our quiet little city of Tomball TX.   The teacher was a young man from Chicago, Ill.  named Terry Watson.  He was entertaining, (read; HYSTERICALLY FUNNY)  encouraging and insightful all in one extremely energetic package.   If you ever get an opportunity to see this man in person, DO it!  In fact look him up on the internet and find out where he's going to be … (0 comments)

real estate: How many times have I won the Lottery This Week - 08/30/10 12:43 PM
Who among us hasn't won a foreign lottery lately or received an offer (in strict convidence of course) from someone you never heard of and they don't know you?  Why just this week I have won at least 6.  Man.... those people over there love me.  Someone has apparently been entering me in all these Lottos online.  It's getting hard to keep up with which ones I've won.  I'll probably have to hire an accountant just  to keep up with where I need to go to get the money!  I am soooooo lucky..... I must have won 50 or 60 million … (9 comments)

real estate: Places to stop and eat while looking for a place to live! - 08/30/10 09:45 AM
Even the best of cooks enjoy an evening or lunch out occasionally.  Tomball offers a huge variety of eateries.  From the usual fast food to international delights there is sure to be a place to thrill your palate.
One of the great delights is that there are an assortment of places that cook like your mama did!  If not like she did cook, perhaps like you wish she would have.  If you are fond of the good old fashioned fare such as Chicken Fried Steak, Meatloaf, Fried Catfish or just the classic Grilled Cheese you can find it in a Tomball … (0 comments)

real estate: Real Life in Tomball! aka "The Hometown with a Heart" - 08/28/10 10:12 AM
Just a short 29 miles Northwest of downtown Houston is a piece of what may be considered American Nostalga.  Think of it as shades of "Leave it to Beaver, Andy of Mayberry and Ozzie and Harriet all rolled into one small town.  Add to the charm the fact that it is an easy drive of every convenience known to modern day man.
This well kept secret became known to me in the early 1980s courtesy of my fledgling Real Estate career.  In addition to care and transporting of three young sons, giving them horseback riding lessons entered the daily mix.  The … (0 comments)

real estate: A Positive Experience with A Retailer - 08/27/10 03:43 PM
This week we have been having a problem with the IPod connection to our car radio.  After going to Best Buy here in Northwest Houston Tomball area we were directed to a little place called Car Toys.  On arrival I discovered that they do a lot of dealer installs of radios, gps, etc.  and had in fact done a lot of installs for the dealer from which my car came.  Well, as luck would have it they could not find where they had done the actual install in my car but being the gentlemen that they are they stepped up and … (2 comments)

real estate: Where has Summer gone? - 08/07/10 01:42 AM
Seems like summer just started and here we are nearing mid August!  I see everyone hurrying around getting last minute things done before the kids trundle off back to school.  We were attending a home inspection yesterday and the seller popped through to change clothes and load up one of his kids to haul him off to move in at school for the fall semester.  Mom's were every where in the aisles at Office Depot buying school supplies.
There's almost a palpable excitement in the air.  Well by the adults anyway because some of their day will be freed up a … (1 comments)

real estate: Prepare for 2009 Hurricane Season - 06/04/09 05:11 AM
Well, if you live in Houston and Northwest Houston you need to give a little thought to the infamous Hurricane season which is now upon us.  Nothing to be afraid of if you do a little thinking and advance planning especially if you live up here in Northwest Houston.  Yes, we got hit last year but generally speaking we only get one of these things every few years.  But, it's better to think out your options so you're not so stressed if it comes our way again any time soon.  Like most folks are saying you need to think about how … (0 comments)

real estate: Hello! Welcome to Northwest Houston! - 05/28/09 04:54 AM
This is the start of a new adventure for me! (Writing a blog)  Marketing and selling real estate has been my life for over 20 years.  I've seen the up's and down's of the market in Houston.  In fact it was DOWN when I got into the business in the 1980's.  I was told at that time by a Phd. that I really screwed up by getting into it at that time but when I pointed out that it really wasn't going to get much worse he reconsidered his statement and said that I was right.  There were entire subdivisions that … (0 comments)
