From Summer to Fall and Winter - The Different Colors of Red Lodge
The following photo was taken the morning of October 1st on Ski Run Road in Red Lodge, Montana.

Red Lodge experienced its first snow fall on September 30.  Prior to September 30, we had 18 days of sunny and warm temperatures (with temperatures above the seasonal averages).   It rained for only one hour during the previous 18 days before we received the first snow fall of the season.  Things can change quickly from one day to another when it comes to weather when you live at an … (19 comments)

Moose Monday - Bull Moose By the Fence in Red Lodge, Montana

Here is a Bull Moose which I photographed in Red Lodge, Montana in October 2008.  He was in a hurry but I am glad I was quick enough to snap the photo of him above.  This photo was cropped to get the picture for the new group on ActiveRain:  Moose Monday.  Isn't he a good looking bull moose from Red Lodge?

This the follow up post to Friday Foto - Hidden Animal in the Sage Brushes
Here is the animal in all his/her beauty!!!   MEOW!!!

It took some time to find this one.  Only two members got it right: Donna Harris of Austin, Texas and Mark Swartz of Toronto, Ontario.
Thank you to everyone who played.  I enjoyed all the guesses. The most popular guesses were: fox, coyote and wolf.
Here is the kitty in the first photo (not obvious at all) of the initial post:

The following photo was taken in Red Lodge on the night of August 27, 2009.
There are not too many lights as you can see in the mountains in the background.
The full moon, the dark blue sky, the pink colored clouds and the mountain tops dominate this breathtaking view.
Have a good night from Red Lodge.

montana: Moose Monday - Valentine's Day Moose in Red Lodge - 08/24/09 04:20 AM
This the fourth installment of Moose Monday and I had to dig this one from the winter files.  Before you get too much of chilling effect seeing snow in August, let me assure you that the following photo was taken on February 14, 2009.  It was taken by my friend Marisa of Southern California in one of her many visits to Red Lodge in 2009.  She first visited Red Lodge in 2008 and like most visitors who discover Red Lodge, once you visit Red Lodge, you will likely come back again and again.  Her parents liked it so much they actually … (16 comments)

Happy Moose Monday from Red Lodge, Montana!
This is the follow-up post from last week's: Moose Monday - Bull Moose on the Run in Red Lodge
The following photo will give you a better idea of the size of the Bull Moose.  Just remember they are wild animals and you can hopefully tell from the photo why it is recommended to not get too near any of them.  I captured the photo with the zoom feature of my digital camera.

Red Lodge, Montana - Plenty of Horses and Iron Horses!
In the photos below are two different types of horses that can be seen a lot in the Montana landscapes and in and around Red Lodge.
If you are found of either or both of them, remember that Red Lodge is the host every year to both the Red Lodge Rodeo on the weekend of July 4th and the Iron Horse Rodeo during the weekend around the middle of July.
The following photos were taken on Highway 78 (Just Northwest of Red Lodge) and on the same day on July 2009.

montana: Sage Massage - Healing Hands by Threse - 08/12/09 04:54 PM
Just as you come to Bearcreek from the East and on the right hand side of highway 308 is Sage Massage.

Bearcreek is a very small town with 99 residents just 7 miles East of Red Lodge and 6 miles West of Belfry.
One of those residents is Threse Fuchs, a Certified Massage Therapist.  She is well know by locals for the terrific Swedish massages she gives.  I recently experienced a massage session by Therese.

First of all, you can not help but notice Threse's beautiful garden as you walk in to her home.

Rock Creek Resort and Old Piney Dell Restaurant - A Beautiful Retreat and Dining Experience Just South of Red Lodge, Montana

Rock Creek Resort is located 5 miles south of Red Lodge, Montana on Highway 212.

The resort is composed of rooms in four main buildings: The Beartooth Lodge, The Twin Elk, the Rock Creek townhomes, the Grizzly Condos.  My favorite is the rooms in the Grizzly Condos who are right next to Rock Creek.  You get to comfortably stay in one of the many nicely furnished rooms with complete kitchens, fireplaces and color televisions.  You … (13 comments)

Bull Moose on the Run in Red Lodge
The following is the first photo of a bull moose to make it into my Moose Monday from Montana.
I took this photo in October 2008.  This bull moose was caught running in the Grizzly Peak Mountain Homes subdivision, in beautiful Red Lodge, Montana.  I think he was camera shy.  In the background is Mount Maurice.
Next week, I will share a more close-up photo of this bull moose.

Good Food and Great Entertainement! Dinner and Pig Races in Bearcreek
This is a post that I have been meaning to write for the past 2 months.  Let's say that the Localism challenge was a good excuse to finally write it.

In the little town of Bearcreek, Montana, population 99 people, just 7 miles East of Red Lodge on highway 308, there is a great restaurant/bar/casino where the locals and tourists like to hang out and watch pig races.  Yes, I did say pig races!  When was the last time you have been to the pig races?  If you have … (6 comments)

Red Lodge By Night
Here are photos I took the night of August 6, 2009.  As I was leaving the office, I noticed the amazing display of colors in the sky.  This was the call to make a detour om my way home to drive on Highway 308 towards Bearcreek and take the following sunset photo from the overlook before it got any darker.  It was a memorable sunset and I enjoyed every minute of it.  I will let the photos do the rest of the talking.

Here's another photo of the same scene but with a close up of … (25 comments)
