There's been a lot of talk about double dipping home prices, but this is simply not true for the majority of sales. Analytics firm CoreLogic reported that for March 2011, overall single-family home prices were off 7.5% versus the previous year. But when they took out distressed sales, typically made at significant discounts, the annual price decline in conventional home sales, which constitute the majority, was less than 1%! Furthermore, CoreLogic found that price declines for conventional home sales have slowed considerably in the last few months. GREAT NEWS! While the National Foreclosure rate is up in February, New Jersey's Foreclosure rate had one of the biggest improvements in February. Last month there were 654 Foreclosures in the entire state. That is DOWN 34% from January. The figures, from RealtyTrac, were reported on Wednesday of this week. It is nice to see some improvement even in a weak economy. NJ numbers have been better than the national averages as far back as I can remember, this added piece of good news makes that even better. We can not always believe the gloom and doom headlines we see (2 comments)
