Spend the first Saturday in 2016 enjoying the Nasher Sculpture Center's First Saturday activities. Target sponsors this free event held the first Saturday of every month. Activities for the entire family are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Children love the Art Scavenger Hunt. Instructions for the hunt are available at the table located in the Lobby. Participants hunt for specific sculptures in the Sculpture Garden. Children can team up with parents, siblings, or friends to help them identify the sculptures. This is a wonderful introduction to many types of sculpture located in the Nasher Garden.

Friday, November 6, 2015, the Dallas Opera will simulcast Giacomo Puccini's "Tosca," at Klyde Warren Park, in the Dallas Arts District. The opera will be sung in Italian. English subtitles will be displayed on the screen suspended from the front of the Muse Family Pavilion. This is a Free event.
Klyde Warren Park festivities will be in good hands with my favorite Dallas radio announcer, Jody Dean. Joining Jody will be Nathan Myers. Come casual with picnic and picnic blanket in hand and enjoy the evening. Bring a sweater, it may get a bit chilly tonight.

This evening, the Dallas Architectural Forum presents a moderated panel discussion about Dallas transit in three speed categories: "Fast, Medium, Slow." Panelists will discuss the impact of three transportation systems.
FAST - BULLET TRAIN Recently, Federal rail officials approved a high speed rail corridor between Dallas and Houston. The Dallas Observer published an interesting article about one of the proposed routes within the corridor. The article is worth the read! There are still a few hurdles to overcome before the bullet train becomes a reality.

Saturday is predicted to be 55° and sunny! What a perfect day to enjoy the Nasher Sculpture Center's First Saturday activities with your entire family. Sponsored by Target, this is a Free event. The Nasher is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and activities are scheduled from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This event is designed for children from preschool age to elementary school. Sponsored by Target, First Saturday is a good opportunity to gather up friends and family and enjoy time in the Nasher Sculpture Garden. This Saturday, children's activities begin at 10:00 AM. Kids of all ages will have the opportunity to view a sculpture demonstration and create a "Playmate Puppet." One of my favorite activities for kids is the Scavenger Hunt. Friday, October 25, the Dallas Opera will simulcast Bizet's Opera "Carmen," Klyde Warren Park. The screen will be suspended from the front of the Muse Family Pavilion. Come casual with picnic and picnic blanket in hand and enjoy the evening. I like the idea of introducing opera to the entire family in this casual atmosphere. Food for take out is also available at area restaurants, if you decide to leave your picnic basket at home.

"Chair Art in the Park" - Klyde Warren Park 2013 Chair Art in the Park, Klyde Warren Park, is the perfect activity for this sunny Dallas Saturday! It's a great opportunity to visit the Dallas Arts District and enjoy lunch served by one or more of the gourmet food trucks in the area. Dallas area middle school and high school students were invited to share their artistic visions by creating objects of art from chairs. Participants used chairs of their choice to create their art. Before enjoying our delicious dinner, my daughter Erin and I treated her 6 month old Chocolate Lab, Wrigley, to a trip to the new Klyde Warren Dog Park in Downtown Dallas. The park was filled with children enjoying the creative playground, people of all ages sitting at the garden table in the "Dallas Morning News" outdoor Reading and Games Room. Klyde Warren Park opens this weekend, Saturday, October 27, 2012, in Dallas. This 5.2 acre park spans the 8 lane Woodall Rodgers Freeway and connects the Dallas Arts District to Uptown. Three hundred twenty-two (322) trees have been planted on the Klyde Warren Park grounds.The trees are planted in 4 feet of soil.Keeping in mind our windy North Texas weather, the trees are anchored with cables and concrete to ensure that they remain in their original location.
