It was just recently announced that Avon Lake City high school has been given gold medal status in the annual U.S. News and World Report's list of Best High Schools.
The school's ranking in Ohio and nationally, that was released this past Tuesday, fluctuates a bit from year to year. For example, this year the school ranked 19th among Ohio schools; the year before it ranked 21. Avon Lake has tended to rank high for the past severa years on a consistent basis.

Please see website link for the 2014 Daily Beast ranking of the “Top High Schools for 2014.” ALHS is ranked 220 out of the 735 top high schools who made the ranking status this year. This means ALHS moved up 390 places over the last two years as we were ranked 610 for the 2012 school year.

Allied Waste has provided blue refuse carts and green recycling carts to each home in Avon Lake. Containers remain the property of Allied Waste and should not be removed from the residence. (For more information please contact the AW Customer Service Department at (440)458-5191 or (800) 433-1309, office hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.)
Day of Collection
Recycling and rubbish materials will be picked up on Monday each week EXCEPT when a holiday falls on the regular pick-up day. If this occurs, then recycling and rubbish materials will be collected on Tuesday.

Code Red is a reverse 9-1-1 system used by municipalities in urgent situations. Individuals must opt-in to the system to receive a Code Red.
