food drive: Anaheim Hills Holiday Food Drive - 11/08/12 07:01 AM

It's time for our annual Anaheim Hills Holiday Food Drive; time for cleaning out the pantry, letting me drop by and maybe even letting me take a hug away from the food pick-up.  The only thing better than giving a hug is getting one!
As always, I’ll be calling you to see if you are participating this year.  Of course, you are always welcome to call me.  My cell phone is 714-240-3693.  This is the biggest feel-good event of the year for us.  It means the world to hungry families when you take the time to donate to the food … (3 comments)

food drive: Out of Hibernation - 12/09/11 08:26 AM
Out of Hibernation / Time to Feast
“You’re back Vic!” – That’s a phrase I have heard many times in the last few months.  “It’s good to have you back!”,  “I missed you!”.  It made me realize that I have apparently been in hibernation.  Growing up in Alaska; I am very familiar with the hungry eating habits of waking hibernators.  We are ravenously hungry, but still willing to share.  What a great time to launch our 3rd Annual Relationship-Based Food Drive!
Remember that I don’t go door-to-door looking for new business, I don’t call people without their permission and I don’t … (7 comments)

food drive: 2011 Relationship-based Food Drive - 12/04/11 02:09 PM
The 2011 Relationship-based Food Drive is celebrating it's 3rd year!
On December 8th, 9th and 10th I am asking permission to come to your house.  I plan to have a small crew with me that will be there to pick up food.
If you would leave a box of food or a bag of food on your front porch, we will give you a receipt for it and deliver it to The Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County on your behalf!
My goal is to deliver at least 3 truckfuls of food to them.  I know you and I can … (6 comments)

Thanks to your generous donations, we delivered 748 pounds of food and $600 to the Second Harvest Food Bank.  We fed a lot of families again this year my friends!  Thank you so much.
Thank you to our cooperating small businesses!  Systems One Consulting, Ear Abstracts, Lincoln Ace Hardware and CORE Physical Therapy all hosted donation barrels.  If your shop would like to host a barrel next year, please call or text me at 714-240-3693 or e-mail … (2 comments)

food drive: 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive, Ch. IV - 10/21/10 09:45 AM
This is a bit of a weather report for the 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive; we're not letting the rain get us down!  My truck has an open bed, so I had to be careful about delivering the cardboard barrels to our participating businesses.  We had that window of sunshine yesterday, so Judy and Leslie from Ear Abstracts ETC in Yorba Linda told me to race over if I could!
   I did!
Belle and I delivered one more barrel to our sponsor   companies for the 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive!
The rain started up again, but … (2 comments)

food drive: 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive, Chapter II - 10/13/10 06:11 AM
The 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive is Now!I started this story yesterday.  Our goal is much too large to limit to one posting, I’m also not giving such short notice aa the last time.  We’re going to pick up the food from you 3 weeks from now; November 1st - 6th.  We’re going to do it; you and I together are going to raise thousands of pounds! Please share this with your neighbors.  I’ll be calling you this month to schedule the best day to pick up from your house.  Of course you are always welcome to come by the … (2 comments)

food drive: 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive - 10/12/10 11:50 AM
It's that time again my friends, time for the 2nd Annual Anaheim Hills Food Drive!
It All Starts With The First One
We all know this is true.  One step.  One pound.  For me it was one bag.  I bought it on our Disney Cruise last year.  I liked that it folded up into my pocket.  I thought I would be more likely to use it.  It turns out I was wrong.  I kept it in the center console of my truck and forgot it all the time.  When I finally used my reusable bag at Trader Joe’s, I felt like … (2 comments)

food drive: First Annual Food Drive Exceeds Expectations! - 01/05/10 01:53 PM
Last month I wrote to you about joining together to make a difference for needy families at Christmas.  Wow, did we ever succeed!  My private goal was to get as close to 1,000 pounds of food as we could.  I thought that was a reasonable number for our first food drive.
We were greeted with enthusiasm and generosity even before the drive officially started.  Several of you dropped food off at the office or at my home.  By the time the first of our three-day food drive came around, it took my truck and Bonnie's Expedition to deliver the food.  When … (0 comments)

food drive: Vic's Relationship-Based Food Drive - 11/30/09 10:37 AM
I don't go door-to-door looking for new business, I don't call people without their permission and I don't have my picture on shopping carts.  I don't send out calendars with my picture on them.  I don't even plant plastic American flags in your front yard at midnight on July 3rd.  That's because I work By Referral Only.  I work for my friends, my family and the people that they care about.  That's it. Two things happened this past month that made me realize the importance of our relationship.  The first was finding out a former student of mine is doing a copycat … (3 comments)
