With all of the hype about how being involved in Facebook would bring more clients, I decided I'd sign up and see what was in store for me.

I don't see how it can help me one way or the other as a Realtor, but I have immensely enjoyed finding old friends...friends I haven't spoken with in years...friends I didn't know how to locate.

And new ones have begun to spring up, too.

I was especially glad to resurrect the friendships of radio broadcasting colleagues of days gone by: Walt Hammock, Barry Kilgore and Scott Arthur. These guys, along with other friends like Bill "Rascal" McCaskill, Paul Berlin, Webb Pierce, Don LeBlanc, Skipper Lee Frazier, Chuck Dunaway, Gladys "Gee-Gee" Hill, Perry "Daddy Deep Throat" King, Vandy Anderson (Van Anders), "Lonesome" Leon Giles, Ken Collins, Mel Pennington, "Hammering" Hank Henderson, Anthony Luppens, Clifton "King Bee" Smith, Joanne Gillam, Win McMullen, and a few others were the backbone of Houston-Galveston radio for many years.

So the bottom line is that I would seriously recommend you try this venue. It's great fun. And it does appear to be true: Everyone is doing it!

I have been telling my husband for weeks that he would enjoy Facebook...not because he would write much, but he would have fun keeping up with our kids, agents and friends. Well, he started paying attention to it last week...and loves telling ME what is happening!

Isn't it exciting to reconnect? I don't use Facebook for real estate either. I love seeing photos of family and friends so quickly. My sisters' kids did egg colouring on Good Friday and it was so nice to see them "up close and personal".

Evelyn, I know they will if they can. Unfortunately radio guys often find they have to live in near poverty as a trade-off for being behind a microphone. Good chance is they will always be apartment dwellers.

I always did radio-TV as an avocation. Interestingly, when I was at Tulane in New Orleans (circa 1958), those of us working on the large stations (mine was WRR) made really good money. That was when broadcasters knew the value of talent. That all changed over time. Some in the Dallas market, for an example, are lucky to earn 10-15 bucks an hour.
