The theme in the Hudson Valley this year is related to the Quadracentennial celebrations.  Today at 4:00PM is the kickoff of the Millbrook Book Festival  at the Cary Institute.

This year the celebration will be centered around 400 years of writing on the banks of the Hudson River; and many authors will participate in the event, here is a list of participants.

There will be something for all ages, books, poetry, photography and an exhibition at theMillbrook library.  At the end of the festival there will be a one man play entitled Hudson Adrift: Bitter end of Henry Hudson.

So this weekend make your way over to beautiful Millbrook.

Jennifer, sounds like a nice relaxing time, and something that the whole family can do together.  Do plan on going?

Jennifer, it's hard to believe that in 1609 - 400 years ago - Henry Hudson sailed the Half Moon up the river that he discovered...

Jennifer, I'm a huge reader it sounds like it would be totally down my alley.  Wow 400 years of writing how incredible.  I'm reading a book on prayer right now that was written in the 1850's and it just blows me away at how relevant it is to today.  I guess some things never change!

I love the variety I find when I'm browing through the Things to Do/Places to Visit group. This sounds lke a great way to spend half a day, or maybe even a whole day. I love books! I love to read them, collect them, and I actually feel good to see my bookshelves full of them. lol  =D

Brian- That is for sure, I wonder what he would think today?

Marchel - There is always so much to discover, I remember a time when I use to read about 5 books each week.  Any money I had was spent in the bookstore.  I even worked in a library and was involved with book selection for rural areas.

Lisa That is a nice hobby, even with the availabilty of information on the internet, there is still some information that can still be found only in a book.

Paddy - This is a great year to learn about the history of the area, so many events.
