For those interested in moving to the Mueller redevlopment, things are happening. We were notified by our "preferred" builder that we had been one of the lucky lottery winners and would be among the first to be able to buy a new home in the Mueller redevelopment. We selected Standard Pacific, whom I believe to have a good product and a fair price.
Standard Pacific certainly wouldn't be my first choice in a builder, but then virtually no production builder would be high on my list. I'd much prefer to go custom all the way, but alas that's not going to happen in this kind of new urbanism enviornment. Although, I have been told that some of the most primo lots have been reserved for custom homes, I doubt that they would be anywhere close to what I'd call affordable. Keep in mind that my definition of affordable is WAY different than what is the true official definiton of affordable.
The Mueller people are still saying houses will be done by the end of the year. I don't see how given where things are right now, so I'm not holding my breath. I live in Cherrywood, the neighborhood next door, so I'll be over there most every day to see what's going on.
