How do YOU do it....stay on the avenue, road, street or trail

If this gif would animate--it would show the "chasing Tail" action.
That is precisely the feeling that I have right here, right now;
a feeling that cannot be shared with my Partner for fear of the 'contagion effect'

After reading through so many Articles, Blogs,  Posts, & Reports these past few days,
the questioning has begun:  just What is it that we are doing so wrong?

Branded Postcards have been sent recently
Personal cards / letters have previously been sent to past Clients
Branded Business cards are given out
We've started holding Open Houses for other Agents---Thank you Both for that chance
Met with potential clients who do not actually follow through - "will let you know"
Sent information to a bogus e-mail address for another Buyer
Followed up on e-mail contact--only to discover that it was [as expected] a sham / scam

We are both finding classes we want to take--but not until after Oct. 2009-- credits for next 3 yr cycle
We don't mind spending the money to enlarge our knowledge; to do mailings; to print up flyers
We strive to be considerate, direct, forthcoming, honest, & knowledgeable to those we meet
We do NOT mind 'selling' ourselves to potential Clients--even though this is quite a change from New Construction contacts
We don't know why nothing immediate is happening

Is this "chasing Tail syndrome" a regular sensation for some especially in the 'Resale Side' of the market
[Yikes, I just re read that question and the above explanation of the gif---Honest it is called 'chasing tail]
[[-not to be confused with the locker-room talk of Junior High Boys]]

Back to my question--are you reading the wondrous reports of:
...being so busy with Clients that...no time to think
...closed three listings this week
...listed four more properties so far & it looks like I'll have ---more be week's end
or
are you in that fabulous place where you are writing these things for all to see...
usually, both of us are truly happy for other's successes....lately,  not so much happiness;
earlier tonight I asked him ...'did you read that report on the housing Boom starting back up?'
his answer is the reason why I am not having this conversation with him at this time,
He gave that 'Italian" look with his eyes & said cryptically 'BOOM ! Really'
OK, I know [sometimes. when to drop the subject----was unaware how close he is to feeling this
same frustration.

Now I am wondering if we are moving toward a mutual decision & it WILL be a mutual decision as we
only make mutual decisions when both of us will be affected.
My heart will be broken, seriously,
... if we do decide to leave this to the younger of you, or those who have a Client base established;
...wondering if my desire to design our Brand, Client Products, CD presentations, Web Site on point2 has caused money worries for him that he is keeping inside [$8,000. +]
... knowing that though he is typically the strong Italian that I met all those years ago, if I show strong
worries out loud, he will reconsider this whole process. [1 Home we bought happened that way-my Bad]
...IF HE gets ill over this decision we made just a year ago to re enter the REALTOR world as an agent not working within New Construction.

After all of the above---maybe my angst of feeling that I am underwater here is nothing more than:
...ear infection / blockage
...forgetting to take care of Rose bush scratch so it doesn't get infected: I Did & IT Did.
...having to pay yearly renewal fees of $129.00-email hosting; $590.50- for Pt2 web site;smaller amts. for
various sites--Picnik, Animation Factory, & other programs I've opted for.
...the Sci Fi channel has changed it's name to SY FY. cute right, & so techie!
...my new favorite show -'Moonlight' if off the air--hopefully only for the Summer hiatus

One thing for certain, this will be my one & only--Pity Party, Personal Rant, Weakness Song
Thanks for listening, reading & it is ok to have a laugh on me--happens all the time only usually I am laughing right along with the person OR leading the laugh.
Don't feel too funny at the moment, but soon.  to quote 'Annie" the sun will come out tomorrow--oh WAIT
we are slated to have T-storms Friday--Figures. lol.

Wow, this is truly a tough time.  Real estate as an investment and home has to come back.  Only you know if you can afford to hold out long enough to see that.  I have heard a very successful Realtor and trainer say he was quitting the morning a great sale came to fruition.  Chance, luck, karma, hard work?  I think this business takes all of those things and some savings to see you through.  All I can tell you is if you are lucky enough to hold out is is a great business you can stay in for the rest of your lives. Good luck to you both.

Sharon...good thoughts, strong words that make for great visualizations; I think that our hope, plan & reason for continuing is that neither of us accepts the "I Quit" as our mantra--but I do like that Realtor / Trainer's philosophy.] It is the 'hard time breathing through it all' that consitutes today's problems.
Thanks  for stopping by.

Hey, Barb.

You're probably doing everything right but you have two things that are really not working in your favor right now:

  1. You got started a year ago
  2. You're in Macomb, Michigan

A year ago the American car industry was in shambles, not that it's much better right now, but there are signs that it's improving. With so many people unsure of their jobs in the car industry last year, and with Macomb sitting smack dab there in the middle of Detroit, Pontiac, Dearborn, etc., where so much of the economy relies on the car industry, I know you're hurting.

If you can hold out for six months, let's work on your situation.

First, you have 21,700 points here at ActiveRain. I presume, then, that you joined ActiveRain not too long ago, maybe last year. I did a Google search on "Macomb MI houses for sale" and "Macomb MI homes for sale." You did not come up in the Google search. So let's do three things:

  1. Clean up your web site. You have some odd line breaks that make reading difficult, and that smoker (?) might not be the best image to put forward on your web site, even if Sal does smoke.
  2. Make sure you also take advantage of whatever generic web site Keller Williams offers you.
  3. Let's get you going seriously here at ActiveRain. It looks like you've been blogging for yourself and for ActiveRain. Let's put an end to that. While you're getting started, blog no less than 80% for your prospective Clients and 20% for you/ActiveRain. That means get your tne blog entries in each week and make sure eight of them are for your prospective Clients. In order to take advantage of Google's love affair with ActiveRain and Localism, let's title your eight Client blog posts consistently by starting them with "Macomb MI houses for sale:" After the colon, you can put anything you want, such as:
    1. Macomb MI houses for sale: $8,000 federal tax credit expires December 1, 2009
    2. Macomb MI houses for sale: June 2009 ups and downs
    3. Macomb MI houses for sale: Shelby Township real estate
    4. Macomb MI houses for sale: Things to do in Macomb, Michigan
    5. Macomb MI houses for sale: Windsor, Canada, just minutes away

Now if that gets too boring for you (even though it's easy), you can change it up some. Just make sure that Macomb MI is always in your title:

  1. Buy your Macomb MI home soon with the $8,000 federal tax credit
  2. June 2009 ups and down in Macomb MI
  3. Shelby Township real estate affect Macomb MI
  4. Things to do in Macomb MI
  5. Windsor, Canada, is just minutes away from Macomb MI

Get those 10 blog entries in each week -- never miss out -- because that's what is going to interest Google. Within 3-6 months you should be dominant in a Google search and put all the others to shame.

For a great example of someone who is dominating her market using the city/state trick, see Virginia Hepp's blog. Read the titles to all her blogs. 80-90% of them are for her prospects and all have "Mesquite NV" in the title.

Let me know if I can help more. Also don't be afraid to contact the ActiveRain Gods -- Brad Andersohn, Rich Jacobson, Jeremy Blanton -- for additional help on how to work ActiveRain to help you.

Your humble ActiveRain Ambassador

P.S. Don't know what to blog about? Read the blogs of the top points people, take the subject matter, and convert it into your own words. I've already seen that at least one of you can write (probably Sal, since he's a guy -- ooops, did I just say that? LOL), so that shouldn't be a problem.

P.P.S. Also don't be ashamed of having to work in another business while you're getting your real estate business started to make ends meet. As my wise old grandmother said, "Hard work is good for the soul." Now get out there and ruffle some feathers and start squawking.

Ruffle some feathers and start squaking

Russel....Now, tell us what you really think....THANK YOU for your input & your help; that is what I noticed here in the Rain so much help!  When we started {Fall-2008} here, I thought that being new in 'Resale' Real Estate-we were in New Construction--Sal many more years than I--that I would make this blog more entertainment. BUT [ all wrong in the English grammar area to start with but], lately, it is a little harder to find things to post about without making it look like we are magnets for the absurd; Thanks for the hints, ideas, knowledge, & all around Squawk-mode lesson plans.
I do the blogging. I think that you had figured that out.
Your comment makes me chuckle as just tonight, we here in Macomb were told that    '...Housing has tanked in Macomb, Tax dollars have dropped & unemployment has risen...'  We do know about the Auto industry, Sal was G. M. 35+ years, salaried, & did many jobs within the Company. Everything is changed [no pun intended], so we are looking for the up tick to hit here soon.
I will have to pull back & rethink this posting thing before taking a different approach. You have  presented so many ideas & I am hoping that the smoking Sal can stay-as it really does look like him--but I do have a real photo of him, so who knows; will think very carefully and hard on all the good points that you presented.
Google sometimes brings us up on our web site & at times postings here on the Rain--cannot figure them out but very willing to see how to change.
Thanks
Barb
