OUR Changing Climate

The changing climate refers to an increase in temperature in the ocean and the atmosphere. One group of people that can testify to this are the Tuvaluans, its a reality, and many of the inhabitants of Tuvalu are leaving the island because of the change. Tuvalu Report

"We live in constant fear of the adverse impacts of climate change. For a coral atoll nation, sea level rise and more severe weather events loom as a growing threat to our entire population. The threat is real and serious, and is of no difference to a slow and insidious form of terrorism against us." so said Saufatu Sopoanga, Prime Minister of Tuvalu, at the 58th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

A reason giving for such a change is the greenhouse effect, even if its associated to the changing climate, it is vital for life. Without the greenhouse effect the temperature on earth would be sooo cold that life on earth would be non existant and the oceans would freeze. The problem with the greenhouse effect is that it may be too much of a good thing.

Another reason for climate change is the activities of people such as, pollution, deforestation, the lost or extinction of animal and plant species, urbanization, use of coal, natural gases and oil, to name a few. Deforestation

What scientists call climate change has resulted in heat waves, droughts, floods, storms, hurricanes and the like. Of major concern too, is the effect of rising temperature on the ocean levels. We associate rising levels with melting glaciers but the ocean can raise also due to thermal expansion. That is as oceans become warmer, their volume increases. high tide

Because of what we know, a global solution is needed. We need a drastic change in behavior so as to spare our Terra Firma from further harm. So until the Creator of this earth steps in and provide a global solution, (those who squander the earth's resources will be held accountable by him), let our conscience be our guide, let us have a changing climate of opinion, if you will, and do our part to keep our environment clean, our homes, our place of business, our schools, our parks, our vehicles, and obey anti-pollution laws that governments enact, and above all live up to our Creator's standards of cleanliness.

Dee,

I believe in reducing pollution and conserving our natural resources.

However, I'm not sure that the efforts made by America alone will fix this problem.  Travel south of the border or to India and see what their factories are doing to the atmosphere.  None of them are on board or even make an effort to reduce all the pollution.

It's like cleaning only one room of a big home, the home itself is still filthy.

Melissa,

Thanks for visiting.  The effort of America are but a drop in the bucket.  That's why I said a global solution is needed but then the nations of the world will never agree on how to resolve the issues.  Therefore we need divine intervention.

Judi,

I couldn't agree more.  Now, if only everyone would get on board!  It well never happen that's why we need a higher power to clean up the mess.  Better days are ahead!
