I got a profound word over the weekend; it was from Bishop TD Jakes. He said that love and lust though stimulated by different motives resulted in similar actions. He used the example of giving; he continued to say that with love the motive to give is to make the object of your affection feel happy, appreciated, and special. A good example is a mother's love, her sole motive when giving presents, cooking; cleaning is to make her child feel good / happy. He draws a parallel to lust and said that the motive behind giving (even if it's the same action) is to get something, satisfy a personal need.
Pause - Think about this for a minute... When you love someone you give, weather it's time, or material things...
What is your motive for giving?
Drawing from TD Jakes I asked myself; what was my reason for being in real estate? was it to make a quick buck, get money, get rich, and be my own boss.
Maybe I need to re-evaluate why I am doing this, change my motives and instead of trying to find what I can get from real estate, I should starting seriously thinking about what I can do for others. Do things for clients, without thinking about "what's in this for me?" be more helpful, work with clients that posses challenges, help them and I have no doubt, that my needs will be taken care of too as well.
Again - Think about it.
