Atrium - New Soup In Town
There's some new soup in town, and The Atrium Lounge is where to find it.
The Atrium Lounge (let's just call it Atrium), opened just this last month (Dec 2009). My first visit was late afternoon on a cold rainy day. The interior was very welcoming without being too close-quartered. We had friendly service from a nice guy that turns out to be one of the owners. All I had was a glass of wine, but my friends had some appetizers that smelled very tantalizing so I resolved to return with an appetite.
That appetite joined me on Monday. Two adventurous friends agreed to meet me at this new restaurant that they hadn't heard of yet. I got there early (!!) and was surprised and delighted to find some other friends with very discerning tastes already comfortable at the Atrium. A good sign for the Atrium.
So, making a long story long enough, The specials for the day were appealing and the three of us agreed to share our dishes. The wait-staff very kindly served everything in thirds for us (anticipating our needs - definitely a plus).
Everything was delicious. I mean delicious as in better than I could have imagined. Particularly delighting us was the Banana Curry Spice Soup. OMG! I don't know if you've ever had anything like it, but this was phenomenal! I resisted licking the bowl, but only just!
I'll be back and I love that this restaurant is just a quick walk from my downtown office. Their website doesn't have much info on this date (1/12/10), so here's their address: 606 Broadway, Vancouver, WA. For the record, their menu is identified as "Thai Fusion". Yummy! Expect live music in evenings and a late night menu and a late night happy hour. And expect to see me there!
