First time Buyers: 6 Key professionals you should have on your team

Real Estate Sales Representative with Royal LePage Connect Realty

If you are considering purchasing your first home here are 6 key individuals you must have on your team.

1) A Mortgage Broker-get pre-approved and know how much money you can spend.

2)A Real Estate Agent-one that works full time and knows your area. Get a referral from friends or  interview a few agents, pick the one that relates to you.

3)Home Inspector-will objectively give you the scoop on the home, from wiring to furnace that will need replacing down the road.

4)Lawyer-will review the contracts, give you feedback on additional clauses and could potentially save you money when purchasing a new construction home.

5)Insurance Broker-your new home will have to be insured before the deal is closed. Shop around and ask lots of questions in regards to your coverage.

6)Movers-if you have any money left over treat yourself and have the movers pack up your stuff. Its a bigger job than you imagine.

Follow the above and your home purchase will be just a bit easier and with peace of mind.

Maybe Canada is different, eh, but why the need for the Attorney?

Hi Robert, I always advise my clients to have an attorney review all documents, I'm referring to new condo/home construction. I've tried reading them and my eyes glaze over, there could be alot of extra closing costs buried in the legalese.

I like your emphasis on the importance of having a team, Donna.

The best business owners make sure to have a really good team in place, and buying a home is the biggest business deal that most people will ever do.  It only makes sense for a person to approach this purchase like a business deal.
