True Story about a Feng Shui consultation in Merrick Long Island New York. Laura and I arrived for a Feng Shui consultation of what appeared to be a lovely split level home in the Long Island town of Merrick New York. The entrance was graceful and warming and we stepped inside to meet our lovely client Julia and daughter named Sophie who's main concerns were of a financial nature and difficulties Julia was having with her two older children named Linda and Mike, now in college. Julia and Sophie also mentioned that they heard footsteps in the middle of the night. Her other two children in the house have never mentioned it, neither had it been mentioned to them.
The downstairs of the home contained both the Julia's and Sophie's bedrooms as well as the wealth area which we addressed to help produce a larger income. We suggest colors for specific areas as well as addressing Career, helpful people and other areas of the Bagua. In traveling upstairs to the second floor we felt a slit chill in the air.
As we continued on our way, we entered into a small hallway. On the left side we entered into Linda's bedroom. Although they have been living in the house for three years, you would not have known from looking at it that this was a girls bedroom...let alone any bedroom at all. There were no pictures on the wall, nothing personal, no clothing or furniture except for a bed. To us as Feng Shui consultants, clearly Linda "had never moved in." She had not made this her home or claimed this as her space.
Walking into Mike's bedroom we encountered almost the same situation. Here we found a mattress on the floor but nothing personalized to show this was someones space. We asked Julia if she had ever discussed the footstep sounds with her children and she admitted she had not. We ourselves felt an uncomfortable energy emanating from the attic to which there was no access. We explained to the Julia our theory was that her children had never felt comfortable enough to move in and claim there space and thought it might be because they were hearing the footsteps too.
This is a story with out an ending. Trying to follow up with our client Julia, we were hit with obstacles. She did not want to discuss the footsteps even though she admitted they stopped after the blessings and clearly would not discuss it with her son or daughter. although she was hurt that they haven't "moved in" she was unwilling to bring up the topic.
As Feng shui consultants we can only make recommendations and try to have our clients understand the best possible solutions. What they do with the suggestions is up to them.
