Real Estate Haiku

When you were in school, did you ever wonder if teachers made their lesson plans with ulterior motives? Let's say your English teacher says that writing essays is good practice of a skill you'll use throughout your life. His lesson plan is for you to sit there for the day and privately write an essay. Did you ever think to yourself, "I bet he just didn't want to come up with a lesson that was more engaging or maybe he really wants to finish that Steven King book he's reading."? No? I guess I'm the only one.

Well the truth is, today I really just wanted to write some haiku so I came up with an elaborate justification for why writing real estate haiku is a productive use of your time. Here it goes: Effective communication is absolutely essential for any real estate agent. Being able to explain all the intricacies of getting a mortgage, title insurance, home inspections, the advantages and disadvantages of certain offers, and the list goes on. The key to effective communication is being clear and concise, but sometimes we fail to be either clear or concise.

That's where the haiku comes in. Due to the inherent limited length of this writing style, you are forced to be both clear and concise. So, sometimes writing haiku is a good exercise to remind yourself to prioritize the most important concepts and be as clear and succinct as possible. If you have only 5, 7, and 5 syllables to explain something, what would you say?
