Shattuck Windmill Museum & Park -- May 2010

On the way back from Oklahoma last May I saw this neat windmill Museum.

Windmill Museum

When you visit the museum in northwest Oklahoma you will find 51 vintage windmills and one wind generator on a 4 acre site at the junction of Highways 283 and 15.

 Windmills

The windmills are examples of those that were typical from 1850 to 1950.

Decorated Granite Info Wall

Wow, what great granite wall at the entrance to the Shattuck Windmill Musuem and Park.

It looks like the white one in the background has Christmas lights on it.  It must look spectacular at night.

 Duplex Vaneless Windmill

This was called the Duplex Vaneless Windmill.  It looks like a bunch of rake heads.

You can also see the little yellow prairie style house in the background.

Hut in Hill

Before the Railroad came to this part of the country, wood was scarce so settlers sometimes built into the side of a hill.

I think this also keeps the home cool in the summer.

There were some beautiful Yuccas blooming there in May of 2010.

For more information click on the following link to the Shattuck Windmill Museum and Park.

water pump

Here is a picture of a water pump and a horse trough.  Hope you get to stop by the museum the next time you are in the area.  It is well worth the time.

So is that the original "little house on the prairie"? LOL. I wonder how many square feet that is. It looks small enough to fit inside my garage, and I don't consider my garage that big.

That looks like a place that I would love to visit. Right up my alley.
