PHONE BOOKS for CLIENTS come in handy....

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty ONE Group Mountain Desert

I know this may sound strange, but I give all my buyers (out of area buyers, which are most) a brand new phone book.   My clients are always thrilled.  Why do I give them a phone book? Well, almost every number they'll possibly need, or ask me for,  is right there in the yellow pages--maybe White pages, too-- and now at their finger tips. I realize people find just about all numbers, now-a-days, on the Internet. But between moving and being moved in, folks may not have Internet access. Besides that, in some areas, they may not have access for quite some time. Here's a few numbers clients may need in a pinch and can find from our local phone books:

  • Police and Fire Departments
  • Utilities Companies
  • Internet Servers
  • Local County Offices
  • Government Offices
  • Building and Safety
  • Churches
  • Grocery Stores
  • Storages Units
  • Schools
  • Restaurants

.... let's face it, I could go on and, but I won't.  In my area, our local Chamber of Commerce carries phone books, as do several of our local grocery stores. So, when I start running low, I buzz by one or the other locations and grab an armful.

Cheap investment can be worth a bundle to clients.

Great idea!  I had never thought of this as being very important since most people have numbers stored in their cell phones.  But then again - if you're new to an area you wouldn't have any local numbers....Duh!  LOL  Sometimes the obvious is what stumps us!

LOL I was wondering how to get rid of them.  In our area they have "special recycling" for phone books....you are not supposed to put them in with regular trash.  I do suppose that folks who are relocating and don't use the internet...might like a phone book.

Hey Kat ,  you're back !!! Missed you and your posts.  Wonderful idea....how many times am I looking for a phone book and can't find one. Then when I don't need one, they seem to turn up everywhere.

I hope you'll join TLW's  The Psychology of Cyberspace group...so far it's just us girls, however I think a few guys might jump on board.

Kat, I always add the bulleted numbers you listed to a closing packet but that's a great idea to add a book as a starter. Thanks!

Teri: You're so welcome!  How are ya?

Donna: Yes, the basics...we should never get  very far from them.

Nick: I love simple...what is that saying, "Keep it simple, stupid?"  That's what I practice. LOL

Carol:  I've found some of my older clients don't have a 'puter and rarely use their cells except calling family members. So they really like the phone book.

Yvette: Glad you stopped by. Hope y ou find this little tip useful.

Jo-Anne: I will stop by the new group today and check it out...most likely join.  I am "back" slowly...very hectic few weeks.

Kevin: Glad you like the idea.

THANKS everyone for stopping by!!!

Kat, - my smiley friend. I'm good. Loving the opportunities to "go away" for a few days here and there. Our market is rather slow, so it's a good time to enjoy being a Realtor!! :-)
