My First Meme!

By
Real Estate Agent with Castle Connections Realty 0517896

So, I got my first Meme this week from Tricia Jumonville.  I knew I was suppose to write about myself but not much else.  I looked at Meme's from several other members and learned I needed to write 5 things that others don't know about me.  Since I don't many people on Activerain I thought that would be easy but it was harder than I thought.

Since this is my first Meme, I thought I'd just stick to the basics.

1.  I'm a Dallas native and have lived in the metroplex my whole life.  I only left when I went to Texas A&M for college.  A&M is only 3 hours from Dallas so I've never lived outside the great state of Texas!

2.  I'm the youngest sibling in my family by 13 years.  My Mom was 45 years old and my Dad was 55 when I was born and that was very unusual in 1975.  My oldest brother passed away 2-1/2 years ago but he was 16 years older than me.  And my other brother is 13 years older.  And, yes, we are full brother and sister.  My father was in World War II and for someone my age that is very unusual but I always got a kick out of telling my friends how old my Dad was.  Most of my friends had grandparents in WWII, not parents.

3.  I have been married for 7 years.  No kids yet but we are thinking about it.  I'm 32 and I'm not getting any younger.  Right now, I'm content to borrow one of my 6 nieces and nephews if I have the yearning for a child.  :-)

4.  I love football.  I know just as much about football as most men so there are never any arguments about watching football in our household.  Both my brothers played college football and my Dad was a scout for SMU so I had like to football.  My family has season tickets to the Cowboy games and I attend every game.  The best game I went to was the Super Bowl in 1993 in Pasadena with the Cowboys and Buffalo Bills. It was the start of the Cowboys dynasty in the 90's.  It was an amazing experience even if Michael Jackson was the halftime entertainment.

5.  Most people are surprised to learn that I grew up riding horses since I lived in the city.  But as a child, one of my friends moved to the country and I started riding at age 6.  I've owned five horses during my childhood - the most I had at one time was three.  I enjoyed going as fast as possible on a horse and I was fearless so I loved to barrel race and do all the playday events.  I participated in 4-H, local playdays and Pro-Youth events. One of my horses was familiar with cows so I did a little cow penning but my real love was barrels.  I missed my horses so much that I took a horse to college.  But once I graduated and had to pay all the bills, I didn't have the money to keep my horses.  I haven't owned any horses in 10 years but I hope to be able to own horses again.  It is one thing that truly makes me happy.

Hope you enjoying learning a little about me.

You don't look a day older than 29. ;)

And, yes, I am surprised. You have 'city girl' written all over your face. LOL

Stacy & Jackie - I'm ready for the Cowboy vs. Texans game.  It is the battle for the Governor's Cup.

Tom - I'd say I'm 2 parts "city girl" and just a little bit country.

Jo-Anne - thanks for stopping by.  glad you enjoyed my first meme!

Linda, isn't barrel racing a blast?  And I hope you manage to get a horse again soon - they're SO much cheaper than therapy!  (At least, that's how I look at it - when life gets too crazy, just go out and sniff a horse!)

And we have something else in common - my sister, myonly sibling, is 12 years older than I (and I was born in 1949, it was REALLY unusual then!) and my children are 11-1/2 years apart.

Lucky - thanks for adding me to the list.

Tricia - I love barrel racing.  I miss that competitive spirit.  That is interesting that you are a much younger sibling like me.  It is kinda like having a second set of parents.

Karen - glad you enjoyed my meme.

Fran - How do you live in Philly, if your whole family is in the Dallas area?  And what is worse, you are an Eagles fan!  :-)

Linda,

It's the Philly cheesesteaks and Philly soft pretzels that keep me here:^). None to compare in Dallas. I do enjoy VISITING though. Love TexMex.

Stacy & Jackie - Feel free to give me crap after that Cowboy game!

Fran - You are making me hungry.  :-)  Next time you are in Plano, you need to visit Fred's Philly Cheesesteaks.  The owner is from Philly and I think the cheesesteaks are good but I'm no expert.  He has Philadelphia sports memorabilia all over the walls so you would feel right at home!

Linda,

Been there. Done that. Not bad when your 1500 miles from Philly, but can't compare with the Real Thing. Spring Creek Barbecue was my favorite. Disappointed me, however, last visit. Thanks,   Fran

Linda-great first meme, I like when you said, the Aggie's are only three hours from dallas, so you have never left the great state, from what I know, you can travel 18 hours to el paso and still be in the great state...the stars are bright

Fran - i tried.  that was my only cheesesteak suggestion.

Ralph - I've left Texas before but I've never lived outside the state.  I love Texas but I enjoy traveling to see more beautiful areas of the country.

Linda - This is a great meme.  I am also from Dallas - GO COWBOYS!  I still remember watching that Superbowl game with a bunch of my neighbors - what a blowout!  I have a good friend who is also an Aggie and her parents were about the same age as yours when she was born - she is the youngest of five kids.  By the way, could you tell my wife that football is fun to watch?

Jason, I don't think your wife will listen to me.  My friends don't understand either.  My husband brags about me to his friends about my love of football.  And when I jump in on football conversations with guys, they are surprised and then even more surprised when they realize I know what I'm talking about.

Linda - You are probably right.  I am usually surprised when I meet a woman who knows much about football - there is something tantalizing about it.  Your husband has a right to brag about that.

Linda, I enjoyed your meme.  My daughter graduated from UNT so for the 4 years she was there we spent lots of time between Houston and Dallas.  My daughter started riding when she was 8, I'm hopeful that horses will someday bring her back to the west as she is now living in New York City.  She tells me that they will.  I'm personally not a horse person but I know my way around a barn because of my daughter.  I have sold lots of country properties so that has been good to know.  I was in 4-H; for 10 years but I showed sheep.
