The Minnesota Twins and the new Target Field

This past weekend I was able to take in a Baseball game with some family.  It was my first trip to the New Target field, What many are calling one of the top 3 nicest Baseball parks for fans and players alike.

Out in center field, there was a home run contest.  This feature local celebs batting against the Twins Mascot.  The mascot won! Even while wearing the bulky costume!

After watching many games inside the Metro Home, being outside and away from many of the problems that the Dome had, was a real treat.

Grounds Keeping is serious business.  Here one of the workers prepares the infield for the up coming game.  We live in a colder climate and a late snow melt could cause a problem.   The field has buried tubes that can have hot water pumped through them to assist the weather in melting the snow.  Also, the area is designed to capture all the excess rain water and snow melt to be used for irrigation of the field at a later date.

As time grow closer to game time the Mian Entrance to the park becomes a busy place.  There is so much to see in this stadium. Food and beverage selections are large compared to what the Dome had to offer.

The National Anthem is played with local service members carrying the colors.  The Main flag is raised by a veteran during this time also.

PLAY BALL !!!!    This is a great venue to watch our national pastime.  C'mon, come out and rout for the home team!!!

Oh Yea...WE beat the Texas Rangers 12-4.

Ever notice when a team loses we say theylost,  and when the team wins it's WE won!

I'm sorry that we put on such a bad display of baseball for you guys. I hope you enjoyed the game, although WE lost. :)

What a great looking stadium Bill. I wish we had hot water pipes under our driveway! Very smart to capture the rain and snow melt for later irrigation.

Looks very nice.  Being a life long Oakland A's fan I can only wish we had something as nice as that.  That other team across the bay from us sure has a nice stadium though.

Brian, it was nice you guys let us win.

Steve.  I was going to do that with our front side walk, but the cement guys showed up 3 days early and I was out of town.  I would have had to put the pipes in right after they put the dirt in place.

Bill, looks like a nice place.  It shoud be for the money.  At least they thought about some conservation ideas.

Bill...

Buy wouldn't it be very cold in October? I love open fields and think baseball should be played outside ... but there could be some very cold playoff games there.

Great photos William!  There's nothing better than a ball game, a beer and a hot dog.  Interesting how they designed the field for your climate!
