An Amazing Family
I had an absolutely incredible experience on Thursday, September 16. I was invited by Mike and Thelma Conklin to attend the adoption of their son. Pictured below was our source of transportation to the Franklin County courthouse in Chambersburg, PA
My story with the Conklin family begins several years ago when I was their pastor. I visited them through illnesses and hospitalizations. The Conklins have 12 children with 10 of their children being adopted. Most of these children are special needs children. Unfortunately many of these children have been affected by the drug and/or alcohol addictions of their birth mothers.
The Conklins are very special people who have a deep love for children and do an incredible job of providing a loving home for all their children.
I had attended at least 3 other adoptions which were held in Lancaster County, PA. A week before the adoptions the Conklins asked me if I wanted to attend this one in Franklin County and I jumped at the chance. The Hummer limo provided us with first class transportation to the adoption hearing.
It was a very special day and my hats off to this family. The love of the Conklin family is very evident. I was very surprised to be called as a witness at the hearing. I never had testified at any of the previous hearings and the lawyer told me when she met me that she wanted to call me. I was shocked, but was privileged to share my respect for this family
Give thanks for a family like this.
