The South Coast Botanic Garden recently celebrated their 50th Anniversary.  Palos Verdes real estate owners are lucky to have such a unique garden on the Palos Verdes Peninsula.  South Coast Botanic Garden is located on 87 acres with 2,500 different species of plants including 100 rare mature specimens.

There is much to do and see at the Gardens.  Over 200 species of birds are sighted annually.  You can wander the paths and see a small lake, a Mediterranean Garden, Rose Garden, Garden for the Senses, Cactus Garden, Children's Garden, Fuchsia Garden, Dahlia Garden, Herb Garden and Japanese Garden.  (click here to see a map of the Gardens)  South Coast Botanic Garden is also the only location in the South Bay to see a multitude of cherry blossoms each Spring (photo above). There are lectures, flower shows, car shows, model train shows, plant sales, concerts, and classes (click here for schedule).  The Garden and indoor area may be rented for special events, film locations and vendor fairs.

South Coast Botanic Garden is located at 26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA 90274 (phone number is 310-544-1948).  The Garden is open to the public daily (except Christmas) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  There is a nominal charge for entry - from $3 to $8 and free to Members (family memberships are $50 per year).  Parking is free.
