Living umbrellas... That's pretty cool. And it looks so warm there, too! A nice Sunday picture.
Catherine,
I can see why you think they look like mushrooms, cute aren't they?
Jason,
Yes it was a warm sunny day.
Matt,
I see umbrellas and you see mushroom. Quite another prospective, no wonder one picture is worth a thousand words.
Darren,
Looking through your eyes I see it too. If we keep this up can you imagine what others will see?
Carla,
This certainly is another way of looking at them. I didn't think of them that way but you are right they do look like gumdrops.
Hi Juli,
Every year the city of Glendora, CA trim the trees and give them this shape. Will take photos of an actual trimming and share them with you. (If I can catch them trimming the trees)
Good morning Dee,
I think they can look like; umbrellas, mushrooms or green gumdrops..it's all in the eye of the beholder.
Hey Dee, when it's raining those living umbrellas have kept me from looking like wet noodle...like your blog title!
Tim,
I'm sure they are, in either case people from out of town are fascinated by the shape.
Hello Dorie,
So true. I'm sure there are other things to be seen in the shape, size and color of these trees.
Cynthia,
Really, you have them there in Granville? Please post pictures and send me an e-mail when you do, thank you.
Steve,
Gumdrops on sticks, I pictured that in my mind's eye, and I saw thimbles on sticks :)
Hi Dee, I haven't seen them in Granville yet, but I just moved here from Georgia 2 months ago. In GA those shaped trees were holly specimens that lined the median strips and they were a landscaping staple in the south. I've seem them rounded on top so they really did look like an umbrella!
If I come across any here I'll be sure to let you know :~)
