Do You Want to Escape Your San Antonio Apartment Lifestyle?
What don't you like about your San Antonio apartment
living arrangement? Is it the fact that you are renting space that is yours on a temporary basis and does not help you long-term? You can consider other affordable housing. Your rent payments are helping the apartment owner pay for the unit that provides a long-term asset for them but you only get to use the space month-to-month, as long as you pay-and this could go on for as long as you live. Does that concern you?
If you live in a San Antonio apartment in a downstairs unit, does the fact that people living upstairs seem to take delight in walking, stomping , and jumping in a manner that causes you to loose sleep or disrupt the normal tranquil time you'd like to spend in your apartment?
If you live upstairs, do the people downstairs seem to enjoy slamming doors, banging cabinets, and drawers, and loud-talking their unruly children?
As the Southwest Airlines commercial says, "Want to get away?"
Sometimes and for some, apartment living is the best solution. I would never recommend that a single family house is the best solution for everyone. I will say however, that there are some long-term apartment dwellers who should consider purchasing a home. If you are a long-time apartment dweller don't just visit with a Realtor® to have your options considered. You may need some financial counseling from a financial planner or accountant. There are some obvious costs associated with buying a home, but your long-term financial goals should also be taken into account so you take a balanced look at what is best for you.
As a Realtor®, I do want to help you find a home to buy or lease, but only if it is a good decision for you. I am not a financial planner so I limit my advice to the housing market. I can speak to you and your financial advisor but, you make the call.
A home is a place to live first and should not, in my opinion, be treated like any other asset. It will likley appreciate in value over time if it is in a good location, and you and your neighbors maintain your property. Money paid in rent is only working for you during the month you pay. Your house will provide you shelter now and be an asset for you as you pay down the mortgage.
There are very nice apartment developments all over San Antonio. If you prefer renting to owning, you should have no trouble finding a great property. If you would like to consider becoming a home owner, be it a first time home owner or a repeat home owner, understand homes come in many shapes and sizes. You may want to consider a townhouse or condominium instead of a single family house. I'll be happy to take some time to help you sort through your options. Call me.
