Book 'em Danno:  Hawaii Five O's James MacArthur Dies Today

If you grew up watching Hawaii Five-O, if you ever heard the phrase Book 'em Danno, you'd know exactly what it referenced.

To the girls and ladies, Danno was a hearthrob as was Jack Lord.  But that Danno, he was a sweetie even in my little girl eyes.

It's funny how we feel as if we've lost a good friend when we lose those that we grew up watching develop as actors, actresses, singers, entertainers and more.

Book 'em Danno!

Barbara unfortunately it is so. I have nothing against the New Hawaii Five-O, but it just can't compare to the original.

It's always sad when someone we associated with on an intimate level, especially celebrities who came into our homes week after week, dies.  James MacArthur was the son of Helen Hayes and Charles MacArthur, a playwright and man of prodigious talent, and was indeed a cutie.  God bless him on his journey.

Charita - I remeber watching that show every week as a kid.  When Jack Lord said Book Em Danno I knew it was bed time.  And who could forget the theme music?

Geri I did not even realize he was the son of Helen Hays.  I could have been that I knew it long ago and forget.  It is a loss.

Jim, Book 'em Danno was your que for bedtime.  It's those kind of things that make our memories so special.

My husband was telling me this earlier this afternoon. I always thought he was cute. That makes two movie celebrities...and since they seem to pass away in three's I wonder if anyone will be next... I hope not but it always happens.

Sussie even though it seems that people do die in 3's, I always hope that it never happens too.

Barbara the good shows like that don't exist very much anymore.

Alex not only our youth in prime time, but it was also "family time" in prime time.

Family time, watching a show "together", experiencing and sharing as a Family -- that's what's missing today.  It's the passing of yet another symbol of more innocent times and of a fine person.

This is very sad.  Oh, and anyone who could make it to The Love Boat 4 times really had something going for him.

Tish I remember we lived in what is known as a 2 family flat and we lived upstairs. One of my most cherished memories was when we would gather on our upstairs front porch at night with blankets and popcorn (jiffy pop) and watch TV.  It was family time and we all wanted to be right where we were (together).

Debbie, 4 times of the Love Boat --- now THAT was a true hallmark of success.

Great memories associated with that show.  Somehow I doubt my daughter will feel the same about Phineas & Ferb.  It's a cute show, but just not the same.

You would think they would have worked him in to an episode of the popular new show. Perhaps we was too sick to do so.
