Winter Curb Appeal: An Interview With One of REALTOR® Magazine's Editors

By
Home Stager with Dezigner Digz

Winter will soon be upon us, but that doesn't mean you should neglect the outside of your home if you are selling.  Even though you are somewhat limited in what you can do over the winter months to enhance curb appeal to your home, it's still very important to make that first impression a good one.

A couple of months ago, I was interviewed by one of the Editors of REALTOR® Magazine for an upcoming article she was writing on winter curb appeal.  She asked me to provide her with some helpful tips for their readers.

The article was published in their November/December hardcopy edition.  If you'd like to read the online version, click here to learn more about how you can make an impact on your home or listing at this time of year.

Charlene,

Curb appeal is so important to get the buyer to enter the home.  It's the key first impression!  Congratulations on your interview with Realtor Magazine too.

Hi Charlene - My REALTOR® Magazine magazine was in my mailbox today and there you are on page 14.  Your name was mentioned in 6 out of the 10 paragraphs.

You get an average 51 inches of snow in Burlington???  The army must be very busy out there each year, eh? ;)

Good article, Charlene.  I love the green and purple combo outdoors any time of year.

All good tips Charlene. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that tells sellers to shovel the deck/patio if it snows ;). Congrats on the article.

Marc - It's the first time I've been in the print edition other than a couple of mentions in the section that recaps posts from their Styled, Staged & Sold blog.  I'm not sure where they found the info on 51 inches of snow though.  I had a chuckle over that.  Army for sure ;-)

Janice - Thank you!  Yes, it's very important to shovel the deck/patio.  Not only does it help show that the homeowner is maintaining the home well, it also lets potential buyers see just how large the deck/patio is.
