Ready To Take A Walk Through The Entirety Of Life?

Encountering all the phases of life in one day can be a bit interesting. It causes a strong sense of awe and life evaluation all at once. This past weekend I encountered all the phases of life in one day. How you ask? The day started out with a funeral. The gentleman who passed away was in his 70’s. He led an incredible life full of military service.  His adult children spoke of him with such animated and fond memories. They brought life to his memory.  We looked back on a life of accomplishments and memories shared.

In the couple of hours that followed the funeral, I was due at a baby shower. Talk about the other end of the spectrum of life! As we ushered one life out, in the next few we ushered in a celebration of new, upcoming life. Here we made plans for a life and started the first of memories that were recorded on video and commemorated in pictures.

At the end of the evening, it was time to make my way to a birthday party. My friend was turning 42. We laughed, ate and once again commemorated the event with a few pictures which were promptly uploaded to Facebook. As the evening ended, I languished in the thought of the progression of life. We celebrate as we await the birth of new life. We celebrate each new year that we are given and there is a celebration of life after departure. It made me thankful for all the phases of life and for all the people that help create memories in my life.  I have a renewed appreciation for life. The little things count as that add up towards sweet fond recollections of times good and bad. Yes, I am thankful for even the bad times. Without them, I have no real measure for what really counts as a “good time.”  As we pass through life we must remember that we are only here for a season. Your season is now, so make it count. Take your careful walk through the entirety of life as I did in one day. As you take your walk,  be thankful for each moment...for each moment adds up to the bigger picture.
