Indications so far this year, are that consumer spending is up from last year. Want to do something to help boost your local economy?
Why not make this year's holiday season an "all local" event?
For many, this is a season of spending unmatched by any other time of the year. You will never have a better opportunity to vote with you wallet. Your choice of who gets your hard earned dollars has a deeper impact at this time of year. So let's empower ourselves and take up this challenge!
You can take this idea and run with it as far as you like.
If you look around, you will find local artisans, local craft fairs, local food, local events, local service providers, and interesting businesses of all types hard at work in your area. You can choose to focus on offerings within 100 miles of your home or anything within your state.
- Buy all or a percentage of your gifts from locally owned sources
- Buy all of your holiday food from locally owned sources
- Arrange your holiday events through locally owned sources
- Take advantage of local holiday events
- Support your local charities
- Document your All Local Holiday and share your experience with others
- Write to your friends and family now and encourage them to do the same
If you haven't already done so, take advantage of this holiday season to explore your local businesses. You may find resources right around the corner that you never knew existed.
Enjoy...and happy holidays to all! Feel free to leave some links in the comments to your favorite local businesses.
