Size Matters : A Kodak Moment
This amazing brother and sister act of two baby elephants took place at the San Diego Safari Park this last September. I was on a Photography Safari and catching these two playful baby elephants was a special treat. The hyper activity , especially of the little one was witnessed by only a handful of others in attendance. The photo above was the sisters response to the little male elephant knocking her over and jumping on her. Not about to be lorded over by the little guy, she went charging after him and as you see , finally got the better of him. They had been paying for over 30 minutes and you see all the grass stains on their knees as they wrestled about in the grass. It might take a significant pre-soak and some extra heavy duty Tide to get those stains out, hehehe. Being so close up to them and having these two lively creatures entertaining was a sight to behold and one I will remember for a lifetime. This was indeed for me at least, a real Kodak Moment. While I have seen a few other baby elephants before, I have never seen two of them wrestle before.
I have since come to know these baby elephant's names and will be going back to Safari park to see them again before the calendar year changes. Since it is Christmas time and Safari Park has a wonderful Christmas Lights presentation through out the park, it will be a wonderful festive time to capture some of the park at night all dressed up for the holidays.
