Things to Do and Places to Eat Around Salem Oregon-The Breadboard in Falls City

Tips from Your Salem Oregon Real Estate Agent

Do you love homemade bread?  How about homemade bread baked in a wood fired bread oven?  Then The Breadboard in Falls City, Oregon, will be quite a treat for you.  The Breadboard officially opened their doors on Memorial Day Weekend this year.   We first discovered The Breadboard at the Salem Oregon Saturday Market. We made several trips to the market this summer to enjoy some of the wonderful bread that The Breadboard sells there.  Now that the Saturday Market is over until Spring, we decided to take a drive out to Falls City yesterday to get our bread fix.   The Breadboard has more than just bread to offer.  They also serve coffee, tea, scones, homemade pizza after 4 pm., and many other yummy items.  We decided to try the scones first, and then went for the Home Plate.  The Home plate at $7 features an assortment of The Breadboard's homemade breads along with several homemade spreads including Hummus and Olive Tapenade.  The spreads were delicious, as was the bread.  We also brought home our new favorite bread, Fougasse, which has garlic and Swiss cheese baked into it, along with other herbs.   You can view a sample of The Breadboard's menu on their site.

You will find The Breadboard at 404 N. Main St in Falls City, Oregon.  They are open Friday through Monday from 9 am to 8 pm.  Our next venture out will be after 4 pm, so that we can sample their delicious homemade pizza also made in the wood fired brick oven.

While you are in Falls City, Oregon, remember to visit the falls which is just a short distance from The Breadboard. The Falls are really beautiful in the Summer.  These pictures in the video were taken in December while we were enjoying Pineapple Express weather.   The Falls are a perfect picnic spot.  Bring a bottle of wine from home, stop at The Breadboard, and order the Home Plate or their Bread and Cheese Platter, and head to the park for a picnic.

Yummy looks really good, Mel. We don't have anything like that in our area, unfortunately. I'm sure there is something in the Tampa area but not around here.

Oh, holy - moly, do I like homemade bread.  It's a good think I don't live nearby, I'd be there everyday. :)  Neat name, too. :) Gail

Oh, Mel their Walnut Sourdough on their menu looks fabulous. :)

Toni-it's surprising that this is in a little bitty town outside of Salem.  I guess they do quite well out there though.  It's worth the drive.

Gail-I love it also.... it's a good thing it is a bit of a drive or I would be in trouble.  I haven't tried the Walnut SD, but their regular SD is really good.

Renee-It does smell good outside

Lew-if you come through Salem, I hope you will let me know!

Thanks for stopping by everyone!
