Governor of Pennsylvania Cries "FOUL PLAY"

Whah, whah, whah.......yesterday the Governor of Pennsylvania was in the news, lashing out at the NFL for postponing Sunday night's game between the Minnesota Vikings and The Philadelphia Eagles until tonight.  Well, the reason for the postponement was the weather advisory earlier in the day saying that over a foot of snow would be dropped in the area.  In fact, it was a severe blizzard warning.

Well, first of all, the NFL doesn't cancel, postpone, or stop a football game for anything less than lightning strikes or a National tragedy.  However, they DID feel that a blizzard was a safety issue, not only for the players, but for the fans and other folks who would have to travel to the game.

The governor said that this nation has become a "nation of wussies".  Now there's a grown-up term to be used by a head of state.  lol

I think he just wanted to get the most out of his season tickets.  lol  Heck, the Eagles have already clinched their division title.  Get over it.

As for me, I will be in front of a television watching this game, in hopes that Brett Favre is able to play, and that the Vikes WIN against the Eagles.

The governor should have come out about all the penalties against the Steelers.  The Eagles are okay.

Yeah Pat, you're right.  However, I still think he was just upset about not using his season tickets--or better yet--maybe they were "gratis".  lol  Happy New Year!

More opinions than you want to hear about.

The real reason for the day change was that the NFL felt that Favre needed two extra days to recover from his head injury.  Now you know :)

Governors all talk weird when they get involved with sports.  Our Governor Pawlenty got in a little trouble a few years ago when he got to announce the beginning of the MN Wild hockey season.  Instead of saying "Drop the puck...," Governor Pawlenty said something similar.  He later apologized for his mistake.

Mike.....lol, I am GLAD they postponed, so that my boy Favre CAN perhaps play.  We'll see in a few hours.

Wallace, I gotta call your bluff on Nascar crying.  Tony Stewart is somewhat of a crybaby.  OOPS...hope he's not your fave driver. lol  I agree on that hair color, also.

Jean, I have long been an NFL fan.  I have seen many games with snow and ice, and have never heard of a game getting postponed due to a pending blizzard.  In fact, the stadium in Philidelphia has tunnels with trains to the stadium, so there really was not a safety issue. Eagle fans would have packed the stadium wearing T-Shirts.  The team has one of the top records in the NFL for continual sell outs going back over a decade.

Also, the Eagles did clinch, but they still have two more games, and they are fighting for a first round bye with Chicago, so a postponement means they have two less days of rest and preparation from before their final game on Sunday against the Cowboys.  So it does impact the Eagles post season to that degree.

There is a great blog I came across yesterday on Wordpress about this called Garcia Media Life.  I thought I would share that with you.  The snow conditions could have made for a memorial game, much like the historic 'Ice Bowl', but now we will never know.
