It's "That Time" Again

I do not appreciate this time of year. It's generally cold and damp, football ends Sunday, I hate pro basketball, baseball hasn't started yet, and business really stinks. Real estate agents for the most part are in a bad mood. They start thinking the worst is yet to come instead of seeking opportunity around the corner. Many stop prospecting because "it doesn't work".

I've been through this too many times now, and the truth is that every year except 2008, my business started picking up in March and usually has been better than the year before. I like to think it's because of Spring Training getting started, but some might think it's "March Madness".

The point is that to be successful in real estate it's a marathon, not a sprint. Slow and steady beats fits and spurts of work every day. Keep your nose down, don't listen to naysayers, and if anyone asks you how things are going, just say "I have no complaints". It's amazing how you start feeling warmer and business improves.

Great inspirational message, Ron. I would normally agree with your premise that many stop prospecting now, but I've been having some rather good luck on that score, so I won't be stopping anytime soon. I love the marathon analogy - it is spot on.

Life is a journey not an event is a creed I live by. Your race analogy parallels those thoughts. Thanks for sharing!
