You’ve Got To Be Kidding Me…..In This Weather?
Today February 8th is Kite Flying Day!!! I would have believed this more if it was maybe March or April but not in February. Who in all of this cold weather will head outside to fly a kite?
Ben Franklin is quite possibly the most well known kite flyer. He flew a kite during a thunderstorm and in the end discovered electricity. He could have been the first person to sing “You Light Up My Life” with the charge he got.
People have enjoyed flying kites for thousands of years. It’s an ever popular activity for children, and enjoyed by many adults.
So if the weather is good where you are and, if you have the urge to then I have one thing to say to you.... Go fly a Kite!
Well who ever came up with this one needs to go fly a kite, that's for sure...
I agree with Michael. The person who came up with the holiday is probably the only one who will be willing to get their kite and freeze their butt off. I suppose it depends on where you live. But a vast part of the nation is in a deep freeze. February for flying a kite? Not me.
Hi Don, it will be an excellent day for kite flying. Sunny, temps in the 60's, a strong wind off the Pacific.
Hi Don - This is got to be a California or Florida holiday. Tough to fly a kite with "liquid sunshine":)
Kim,
I have so much snow on the ground here that the slip factor rules out me flying anything.
Dan,
I knew that someone would be bragging about their nice weather so just for that..................go fly a kite! He said respectfully.
There would ne a good chance the kite might come back with a foot of snow on it here:)
Bill,
I have been keeping up to date on the happenings in your area and it doesn't sound good. I know you will be glad to see the warmer weather soon.
It certainly is windy enough here today to fly a kite, but you would need your big coat!
Your Friend in Charlottesville
I have been told to go fly a kite a few times, but not just on this date.
William,
I cant believe anybody would tell you to go fly a kite!! Oops I think that I did in the post, but it was respectfully said..
Don, not even here in Tennessee would I want to fly a kite. Not this February anyway!
Connie,
My son is telling me that they are expecting a couple of inches of snow down in the Chattanooga area tonight. So I am thinking that he won't be flying any kites/
