I did the dreaded deed yesterday.
I REFORMATTED MY COMPUTER!
I was getting a "Build 7600 - The is not a genuine copy of windows" error. It was. But eventually it was going to slowly put my computer to death.
So, with the help impediment of two useless HP techies, who shall remain nameless, my computer is back. It took a whole day to accomplish and $300 for the purchase of Office 2010.
As I work through things now, of course, I find so much that is missing.
BUT, I wll say, Outlook 2010 is awesome.
There is a social connection feature that allows you to watch everyone with whom you are connected, right now on Facebook and LinkedIn, and see what they are doing. What they are reading, who they are talking to, etc. etc.
I guess that was one good thing to come out of the whole mess.
Gordon, you better believe it. Now my printer is acting up.
Mary, you will never look back with Outlook 2010. It is a time-saver.
Gene, I am blushing. I didn't know Elvis shot his TVs.
Jane - I like my Outlook 2007 but I don't love it. I am glad you are sharing your story and I am going to speak with my computer guy about an upgrade.
Patty, I loved 2007 over 2003 and now, 2010 surpasses everything. I don't like the look of it. Takes some getting used to, but I also haven't really seen what you can do with it. You will love the Social Connection tab.
Jane - I hate my new doo computer. I am leaning toward Mac. My brain is in transition
Jane: I'd always heard the story about Elvis blasting his TV's out ... so I checked it out (per a suggestion from a lovely lady on AR). I found this and many other articles, including Snope, about the rumors actually being true. Seems Elvis did it rather often ...

Now ... can you honestly say any other lender has ever taught you this????
Gene
Such a timely post for me, Jane. My Outlook 2009 is causing all sorts of problems--I should check 2010.
Jane: I recently updated to Microsoft Office 2010 - the whole shebang. It has been a steep learning curve as Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook are formatted quite differently than Office 2003 which I was using. I'm sure I'll eventually grow accustomed to the new procedures, but in the meantime I am watching as many videos as I can find to learn the tricks of Office 2010. I have one more phone call to my hosting company tech support to configure one of my mail accounts that got out of whack and hopefully I'll be done with tech support for a while.
I also switched from a Blackberry to the new Verizon iPhone which is a whole other can of beans! Talk about a steep learning curve. Now I'm loving the iphone, but it took me a while to get up to speed.
Gene, that would be a truism. Thank you. I will check this out.
Lottie, you will love it.
Michelle, I am waiting for my contract purchase of the iPhone with Verizon. Should be in May or June. Can't wait. I haven't had time to learn all the 2010 stuff properly, but I came from 07 which isn't as big a shock.
Change is always on the Horizon, I went to a lecture last night that brought insight for 2012, but it's not what most people think, it was some pretty heavy stuff :)
more more, more.. i need more. I have outlook and I use it for email, but I have NO clue what you are talking about. So more in your next post?
Haven't upgraded to any of the 2010 versions yet. Is the social media feature Xobni, or something else?
Tammy, the new version does a ton of stuff which I haven't gotten into yet. But it has a box where you connect to people's Facebook and LinkedIn pages and you can follow them there. You don't have to keep jumping into FB and LI to check.
John, it probably is similar to Xobni. But I could never get into that.
Jane, I've been using Outlook 2007 and have been questioning whether to upgrade. Your post is really timely and informative. In fact, yesterday I posted the question about what contact management anyone is using. I probably will go to Outlook 2010 now.
Gary, I have always used Outlook for my contact management. I can't imagine paying for someone to do what I can do myself. Good luck. You will love it. And 2010 is not a huge leap from '07. It is from '03.
I'm glad you got your computer working again. I am so over Windows - I don't like having to use my old PC but sometimes I have to. MAC rules!
Hi Jane! I had to purchase a new laptop last week......sure wanted a Mac but our MLS doesn't work on those. I am trying to get used to this new one. I love some things and miss some things.
Ann, I can't believe you MLS doesn't support Mac. Wow. You will get used to it. I have never had anything but a PC.
