My dad was an avid photographer. While he took many beautiful pictures, this is one that I'll always remember.
This shot was taken in 1970 -- when Veteran's Stadium was being built in Philadelphia (foreground). That stadium was razed in 2004 and is now a parking lot. The building behind is is the Spectrum -- home to the Philadelphia Flyers and Sixers. Opened in 1967, it's being torn down as we speak. Behind that? JFK stadium. Built in 1926, it was demolished in 1992 and is now the site of the Wells Fargo Center.
While it's sad to see these storied Philadelphia sports venues go, we do now have some state of the art replacements -- Citizen's Bank Park for baseball, Lincoln Financial Field for football and the Wells Fargo Center for hockey, basketball, concerts and more.
But this picture sure brings back memories for me!
