Let's say that you have made a video that you are pleased with, a real Oscar winning production. The video describes your clients property, the lighting is good, the sound quality is right on the money, and you've saved and uploaded to YouTube. You don't want to change the video, but a new introduction could lead to more views, and maybe some good leads.
How about making a short teaser video, with a link to your main video embedded in it. Sound interesting? Let's see how that can be done.
For the sake of example, Let's say that you have a video of an apartment community as your main video. In this post I will be using a video that I shot about a year ago. The video had a bunch of quality views (currently approaching 2000 views!) but we wanted to market in some different ways.
I put together a new short video using YouTube Search Stories. It's a great way to get some keywords in and very easy to use - you don't even need a video camera. However you create this short video does not matter, just make one. We chose to use keywords that matched the main video. You will see that here.
After uploading the new video, we will be working with two videos. One short intro video and the main video showcasing the property. First we will check the intro video by going to YouTube and click on the video. Pause the video, and at the top you will see this.
Click on Edit Annotations, to add a link within the intro video. The screen will look like this. Click the drop down button, than click on Note.
The next screen is where we will add the link to the main video. There are a bunch of different things that can be added a the video. If you get a chance, click around to see all the choices that are available. You may find something that matches your needs better. But let's continue with this video link. the screen will now look something like this.
Almost done! After clicking the Link Box you will have to put the link to the main video in the box shown below.
As you can see, I've added my text into a box that I move to the lower right hand corner. I re-sized the box, change colors, etc. You can do what is best for you!
I added the URL for my main video after clicking the Link Box.
I wanted the link only to appear at the end of the video, so I shortened the time line. You can click and hold the begin and end of the time line to move where you would like it.
Save the changes and Try it!
Here is what my video looked like when done. Remember this. You will watching one video. If you choose to click on the link, you will see the main video. It is important to remember this because you have not changed the original video. You can change the intro video to match your target market, or Holiday season, or to test new ideas.
Click the video below to see the results.
