What does it take to be a great Real Estate Agent?
Occasionally someone will ask me questions about what does it take to be a great Real Estate Agent. To be a successful Realtor. This is usually when they are thinking about trying to get their Real Estate license. I know what I usually tell them, which includes giving service that is above and beyond their best! Treating your clients as good as you would treat a family member that was looking for a home and making sure you know what you are doing at all times!
I realize that this is pretty general. There is so much more to it. So much that we have to be on top of.
We are the ones that have to stay on top of it all and make sure everyone else is getting their part done. To name a few (definitely not everything) we have to orchestrate everything from finding properties that match our buyers, know everything necessary to protect them when making offers and negotiating them, to getting escrow opened and reviewing title reports, and reports on wells, and septics, checking public reports, and reading through CC&Rs, scheduling inspections and discussing the outcome with the buyers, negotiating any repairs needed, getting everything to their lender and checking periodically to make sure all is going well, dealing with appraisals, utilities, contractors, etc and also know the market well. For our sellers we need to know how to price their home accurately, know the best market strategies (we get our client's listings to the first page of Google), be an expert photographer, a stager, a Internet and advertising specialist to name a few more.
The most important thing we do is to help families buy and sell their homes! We get to share in one of the most important decisions families make. When you do a great job it helps make their home buying and selling experience a great one! This will go a long way to help your business as they will be sure to refer you to their family and friends!
