Hindsight

is an amazing thing.

After the fact---

things may seem obvious.

Obvious to the point

one might have foreseen them.

In the middle of things

we are blinded by the distractions necessary to fulfill the script.

Sometimes

what we see so clearly

is nothing more than a mirage.

I would love to have had eyes in the back of my head

so that as I boldly walked backwards

into the events that shaped who I am today

I could have seen where I was going.

In spite of this

I am grateful to be where I arrived.
