Speechless Sundays--House Fire

This happened to the house right next door to me about two years ago.  We were home at the time and it was one of the most frightening, surreal things I have ever experienced.  Luckily, the owner wasn't home and so wasn't harmed, but she did lose a cat (which still breaks my heart...that was one awesome cat).

It has since been rebuilt and is a really cute bungalow with a new owner, but it's hard to get this picture out of my mind.  Our homes are really close together, and had the wind been blowing just a little more that day...I shudder to think what could have happened!  Really makes you realize what's important in life, although it's too bad it usually takes a tragedy like this to get people appreciating the things they usually take for granted!

Hi Susan, glad to hear that you were not harmed in anyway during this frightening experience.  So sorry to hear of her loss of home and pet.  Tragedy does make us re-evaluate our priorities.  Have a nice evening.

Scary, I'd have been out there watering my roof at that point!

That sucks about the cat.  I love my pets so much, it would be truly heartbreaking if something happened to them.  Our dog is almost 13 yrs old, she made a run for it last year and is lucky she wasn't killed.  She actually got hit by a car and managed to have no broken bones or other serious injuries.

Hi Judith--Yes, it really puts things in perspective! Hope I never have to go through something like that again!

Hi Karen--I had the hose in my hand just in case!!

Hi Tracie--Wow, that's one resilient dog you have! I was crying over the loss of her cat (I think I was more upset than she was)...it just breaks my heart to think how scared he must have been in that house during the fire.
