Burgerville – 50 Year Celebration of Healthier and Greener Fast Food
One of the amenities of living in Clark County WA is the variety of restaurants that serve fresh, locally produced food. But if you are on the run (and who isn’t?) and want fast food, you don’t have to settle for greasy, over-processed burgers and fries – you can head to a Burgerville. A local institution since 1961, the company has grown from a single drive-in to 40 restaurants in the region. The original premise was to always serve fresh food purchased from local dairies, farmers and businesses.
This 50 year business model has stood the test of time and changing customer tastes. In fact, part of their successful formula is, in spite of the name, a varied menu. They offer a host of healthy alternative chicken, turkey and vegetarian dishes. For example, they not only offer chicken, smoked salmon, and side salads, you can have any dish prepared the way you want it – “hold the mayo, dressing on the side, no croutons.”
And with the change in seasons, they take advantage of whatever changing bounty of fresh fruits and produce are readily available. So one month their menu may feature sweet potato fries. The next month’s special might be fresh raspberry milk shakes, or smoothies. Their hormone and nitrite-free chicken and beef come from operations that follow strict environmental and healthy feeding guidelines. Even at the drive-through, you will be served fresh, healthy ingredients that help to support local businesses. All this, and the prices are not significantly higher than any of the greasy fast food chains in the area. Congratulations to Burgerville USA - on your 50 year celebration!
As an added bonus, the company has a history of environmental stewardship – everything from recycling paper, cooking oil and compost to buying wind power and supporting sustainable practices.
So the next time you’re hungry and on the go in Clark County, visit a Burgerville near you. Dine in or drive-through, it’s nice to know there is a healthy, green alternative fast food.
