Years ago when my kids were young each year on Independence Day we would enjoy cooking on the grill and then climb in the car to head to the Navy Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, climb the bleachers and watch the fireworks. It was the place to be back then. Since those days I have enjoyed fireworks all around Annapolis as celebrating Independence Day has grown.
Over the years I have viewed some beautiful fireworks from the seawall at the Naval Academy (no longer allowed), the Susan Campbell park in downtown Annapolis, from a boat in the Severn River, displays in South County, Ocean City on the beach and the big one....The Capital lawn in Washington DC. There is no wanting for a great evening of Fun Food and Fireworks around Annapolis.
Annapolis- There are lots of choices here. watch from your boat on the Severn, or board Watermark Cruises to see the display. Anywhere down and around Ego Alley will work as well. And don't forget the Spa Creek Bridge as a viewing spot. It will be closed to vehicular traffic starting at 9 p.m.the fireworks start about 9:15 p.m.
South County- The award winning Herrington Harbour South Marina will have fireworks on July 2nd starting at dusk
Bowie- This spectacular fireworks display will take place at the Baysox Stadium after the game between the Baysox and the Reading Phillies. Baseball and fireworks is a great combination.
Ocean City- two displays will be taking place here. One over the bay and the other over the ocean. Both start around 9:30 p.m.
Washington DC- the most spectacular display in the area is only an hour away. Watch from The Capital lawn as I have in the past or head on down to the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The spectacular display of music, color, and light will start around 9:30 p.m. and awe you for days.
