Need to Cool Down Your Hot Car? Try this Japanese Car Door Trick
With this heat our cars have been reaching temperatures of 120 degrees and more inside. Here is a trick Barbara Altieri heard on the radio for helping cool your hot car down and I will definitely be trying it this week!
It’s been crazy hot here in CT the last few days with a few more scorchers coming up.
I’ve been in NY twice the last few days and have had to park my car both times for several hours in the hot sun. Just walking to my car from a distance and thinking about how hot it was going to be inside when I got there made me sweat.
So there I was…faced with extreme built-up heat of probably 120 screaming hot degrees or more when I got into the car.
So what does everyone usually do when faced with the HOT car? They usually get in, open up the windows, start the car, turn the a/c on and wait until it gets to be a tolerable temperature while breaking into a mild sweat.
Driving back to CT I heard this little ‘trick’ on a NY radio station.
When you’re faced with a hotter than you-know-what car interior, open the driver door, and put down the opposite front passenger window completely. Then from the outside open and close the driver car door five times.
The science behind this is that you will be pulling OUT the hot air in the car by the open/close door action and pulling IN the ‘cooler’ air. Well, the 'cooler' air is still hot, but 95 degree cooler air is better than 120+ degrees, I guess.
Does this make sense.....or is it just nonsense?
Guess you have to try it. It just might be a really ‘cool’ trick!
(I looked this up when I get back and found it is a Japanese door trick to quickly get the hot air out of an oven-like car.)
