(not so) ~ Speachless Sundae...
Let's face it, most of us have some way to remind us or jog our memory to do something. For some, it might be a string around the finger, a sticky note or an alarm set in the mobile phone.
For some though, it takes something a little more concrete, or in this case an attention getter to let this property owner know that they cannot pull the car in any further. Sadly, the pollard was not only bent, but the some of the bolts were broken. One would think that there would be an alternative reminder -- eh why not, remove the pollard and start using the furnace -- It'll give her a few more inches so as to get the groceries out of the trunk without having to open the garage door...
Michael, how scary...why not hang a tennis ball from the ceiling & when it touches the windshield you stop? I've seen that in garages & that's a best practice driving in a garage idea!
That's a good one, I usually see the plastic bumps in the garage or a string to let them know they are too close, but that takes the cake.
While I wouldn't use this method, I get having somekind of maker - my last garage was pretty tight and there where some close call when I shut the garage door -lol.
Michael. I found my Automatic night sensors on my car, light the headlights when I get to the right distance to the back wall (with no windows - the car see it as darkness).
What about using the old tennis ball hanging from the ceiling on a string??? could have worked for this client!

OMG, Michael,
that is unbelivable... You work with people and you think they all normal... NEVER!!!
Have a great day. Tatyana.
Judging the pressure put on that pollard, I would not trust the tennis ball method for this driver! In my area it is more common to use them to protect the hot water heater.
Michael, we've seen golf balls and tennis balls on a string, or even sandbags on the floor, but definitely seems like someone needed a parking marker of some sort!
Whoops! We have one of those automatic sensors shaped like a traffic light! Works pretty well!
Have a good Sunday, and top it off with a sundae!
Wow...you see some crazy crazy things, although i guess this makes sense for the client ! LOL
Michael, This driver certainly needs some kind of reminder...maybe she did have one but it certainly didn't help. Funny photo!
My favorite stopper is the hanging tennis ball from the string to the windshield (ala Ginny and Tom). But if that won't do it a simple board glued to the floor or rubber mat over a garden hose will create enough of a bump to remind MOST drivers to stop there.
Good morning Michael,
I was shocked to see the furnace in the garage like this photo! Ours are usually encased in a closet or upstairs in our attic with the rest of the duct work..really mind blowing to see it in a tight area in the garage!
It's code here, as I'm sure it is in your neck of the woods too, to have one of those poles firmly attached in any garage that has a hot water heater in it. But it's also good for folks who's depth perception leaves a little to be desired.
Hi Michael -
Had a similar problem with my wife pulling in to far in our garage. Not hitting anything major in her mind according to her only bumping into my work bench! I hung a tennis ball from on a string when she bumps it she know to STOP.
Best regards from the Q

Michael, I have seen the tennis balls hanging from a string, and they normally do the job... I guess you really have to prevent a car from damaging the furnace, but I would think a better location would be a preferable solution
Time for a motorcycle and a smart car lol
Code is code and drivers choice is that to.
Enjoy the day
Michael,
Garage appliances are target practice for new drivers and I now guess for veteran drivers also ; ) Oh yeah here we call em bollards in my neck of the woods.
