We talk a great deal about balance in life. It is easy to see the need to have good balance when it comes to our work and home life, but it is much harder to succeed at it. More and more working families are being pulled in a number of directions and have more than one job they are working in order to provide for their family.
I told someone the other day, I have never seen a time in my life where I have worked so hard just to break even. Looking around me at friends and co-workers people are working extremely hard to stay afloat these days.
Meanwhile our family has needs as well. How can we get balance? I have been fortunate in my work that I have the oppourtunity to take my kids along with me as I travel or accomplish day to day duties. At times in our life we have made decisions to live smaller in order to have more time together as a family. Living smaller allowed us to cut back on work and invest that time in family.
However you decide to do it, make sure you invest a large portion of your time in your family. In the end...work provides a cold hug. Children grow up quickly.
Your main work is your family. Enjoy them.
