When All You Can Do Just Isn't Enough

I spent much of last weekend "in the dumps." One of my aunts had passed away, and the reality of her being gone set in hard late Saturday and into Sunday. And I was continuing to try to wrap my head around the fact that two of the three closings I was supposed to have that Friday didn't happen.

house keys

One of these deals came down to financing and the inability to get some. It was heartbreaking. The buyers were a young couple, hardworking, and committed to doing everything they could to make this happen. I was committed to making it happen, too -- not so much for me so that I would get paid, but much more for them so they could call themselves homeowners.

When you see the excitement in a buyer's eyes when they find "the" house, it's all you need to work your butt off to get to the closing table for them. When you hit a bump in the road, you role up your sleeves and problem solve. You figure out a way to smooth out those bumps and move forward. Not this time, though. This time it just was not meant to be.

We're hoping that we can try again in the relatively near future. And you can be sure I'll do whatever I can to bring them to that closing table and to be there when they receive the keys to their new home.

Peggy, I'm sorry to hear this.  I've had my sense of loss too and I do sympathize and empathize.  Loss, in any form is difficult.  Will the young couple have the ability to get their financing in order?  When they do, they'll find a home!!

So sorry to hear about your Aunt!  As well as the hard work you've done to help so many and see it fizzle.  Hate they didn't get their home but I'm sure they will highly recommend you.

Carla -- We are hoping they will qualify the early part of '12. Being self-employed is making it a little more difficult for them -- just so tough to see hardworking people have to put their dream on hold for a bit.

Laura -- Thank you -- for your kind words and encouragement. I am hoping to help them early next year -- but some referrals would be great, too!!
