Fewer Certified inspectors. Good or bad ? As for me I'm a little worried.

I always try to check out all of my competition on the web. Maybe they have an "Idea" I could use to my advantage. But recently when I did a home inspection in Artesia New Mexico, the buyer said he found me through the Internachi site inspectorseek.com He looked for a local inspector who could do a home inspection.

A few years back when I was getting certified with the Internachi association, there no less than 6 inspectors within seventy miles of me. Now if you enter the zip codes for Carlsbad 88220 or Artesia 88210

You will find only my name and company as a certified inspector for the area.

Is this a sign of the times? Or is this a way to put your competition out of business? I don't want to out anyone out of business, but maybe there was not enough work for them and they have moved on.

I have e-mailed all of them that used to be members and no one has returned an e-mail.

I even tried to call them but in all cases it went right to an answering machine.

Do'es this leave me the last man standing? Or am I the only one who just do'es not get it yet?

Me I will stand my ground come what may.

Clint the best man (you) is the last man standing. I suspect some found the inspection industry wasn’t for them and others didn’t do well enough or market well enough to stay in business. Hang in there.

Hi Cindy,

Even if you hire a non certified inspector do'es not mean that you will get a bad inspector. It will depend on all the experience the inspector has. How fast they can get the report back to the buyer etc.

There are inspectors that are not certified, but can out perform a certified inspector due to experience.

All is cool my friiend. I think one reason the "others" are no longer around is there are a lot of Realtors here in town that use the dreaded "waiver" form a lot more than they should.

If you sign it, do you know what "as is" means.

Now if the lending and financial services would "outlaw the waiver form", I would be a lot better off. At least they could demand an inspection on every home sold.

I have been a member of the New Mexico chapter for years. I have never been contacted about a meeting or even a get together for anything. Time to get another chapter president?

Maybe, or there is simply not enough members here to have a meeting. I know there are more than two members. It only takes two to have a Chapter meeting.

being certified is just the first step. Then you have the continuing education all year. Once you have completed the C/E classes. Then your good to go and Inspect homes the right way.

"Anyone can inspect a home, it's the experienced/ certified inspectors that will do the best job".
