New Sheriff in Town!

There's a new NUMBER 1 in the state of Arizona, and his name is Tony Marriott!

Combining an uncanny ability to invite people to the network (155!) and some great blog posts, Tony has taken over the top spot in Arizona -- a spot I've held since day 1.

Remarkably, Tony's lovely bride Suzanne just crossed the 50K point mark and is number 3 in the state.

And ironically, this very blog entry should put me back at #1 by a whopping 45 points. Somehow I don't think that's going to be enough to keep Tony at #2 for long...

CONGRATS TONY, WELL DONE!!

It's nice to see you both so friendly to each other as opposed to the brouhaha that happened with another #1 and #2 last week!

There is always room for competition!

Thanks Renee. Tony's a class act. Point brouhaha's have been a part of AR since before there were blogs (I was once accused of "making people up" so I'd get invite points). They always seemed so senseless to me.... Competition is good for the soul; it makes us better, stronger, faster.

Now let it be said right here though, if something should mysteriously happen to Tony's internet connection and he can no longer log on to AR, I had nothing to do with it. :)

BAM! 25 more points Tony!  Whatcha gonna do about that!

Renee - You have aroused my curiousity - can you give me a hint as to where I can view the dogfight you mentioned?

Monika - Thanks for the congrats and thanks for the heads up.  No fair sneaking up on me when I'm not looking - I'm the only one allowed to do that!

Saving best for last:

Jay - You are an inspiration!  The chase has brought me from someone who wondered what a blog really was to someone who now knows what a blog is, but needs to refine my blogging content.  The more I know, the more I realize I don't know.  Looking forward to getting together!

Tony

Renee - thanks for posting the link. I'd missed all of that and found the comments very interesting.

Competition in Florida, which has lots of excellent ActiveRainers, has been fierce but friendly. Bryant's welcome to top me for #1 anytime. And nationally, Kristal Kraft has been diligently encouraging me to surpass her, as she probably is to the others who are approaching. It's all in the best interest of ActiveRain, and I find the "competitors" very welcome colleagues.

#1 and #2 positions are very visible - I don't know that there's a huge difference between those two positions. When ActiveRain went from posting the top 2 nationally to the top 2 by state, it was a great move to give a hundred people excellent exposure!

Tony and Jay & Francy - keep up the excellent blogs and contributions to us all.

Renee - All I can say is "WOW!" - I hope Joe sticks around - I had not seen that "discussion" before - although at least it didn't get as bad as the "Candybags" series a few weeks ago!

Sharon - Thanks for the kind comments and as I'm sure all here can tell, the Arizona rivalry is a very good natured one!  I still owe Jay lunch (oh the guilt!) - looks like it will be after the holidays.  BTW - I did register for Sellabration and will be arriving Wednesday 1/31/07 departing Friday evening after the event ends.  Will we see you there?

Ha!  I get a kick out of this stuff.  We were duking it out in Minnesota.  When Bonnie Erickson wrote a post about how easy it is to catch up when she is only 1000 points behind, I had to kick it in high geer.  I know I need a 2000 point buffer just in case. :)

Teresa - Especially with the holidays coming up.  You can be strategic in your blogging and take a few days off - but comments have to be made EVERY day!

What fantastic competition.  I think that's great.  We need more like you both on Active Rain.  Growth is what it's all about.
