Almost 20 years ago I lost someone very dear to me. I couldn't stand the hurt at the time, and asked if it would ever go away. No one could tell me. It took many years, but eventually it did. But things happen, and sometimes it all comes back. Whitney Houston, dead at 48. The theme song from her hit movie The Bodyguard. Our favorite movie. Comes back to haunt me again. I Will Always Love You. 20 years have vanished in a flash. Like it is all yesterday.
I just saw the headlines a minute ago and am shocked. I have not yet read the details. I am sorry to read that she died so young.

Most of us 'of a certain age' link that particular song to some drama in our younger lives. I, too, was instantly brought back to events of 20 years ago. Sad loss today.

Her version of this song still gives me chills...I was so surprised to hear the news last night because I guess deep down, I was always optimistic she would get her act together. But, when I thought about it, it HAS been 20 years even though it has gone by in a flash...seems like yesterday. My condolences on your loss...the pain may lessen, but the memories remain.
John, Such a waste and loss of a very talented person at a very young age. The Bodyguard is also a favorite movie of mine. I'm sorry to hear about reliving of your loss from years ago, hopefully the pain will be brief.

Roger, that song has been a source of both admiration and dispair over the years. I always felt as if my deceased partner was singing that song to me.

Michael, I just ordered The Bodyguard on Netflix. Gotta see it again now. I'm OK with the hurt, it was in another lifetime.
