Black Friday Special begins at 4 am! Hurry Quantities are limited!

How many times during the three hour Deal or no Deal show on Wednesday night, did we see that commercial that said JCPenney was open at 4 am on Black Friday?  Best Buy & Circuit City opened at 5 am.  Kohls also opened at 4 am this morning.  Each year it seems to be earlier than the year before.  Value City opened at midnight today.  All to get a head start on the Holiday shopping season.

Well today is Black Friday.  I did what I was supposed to do.  I went to the mall this morning at 4 am.    There were lines everywhere.  There were door busters and coupons that gave additional percentages off.  People camped out in front of Best Buy overnight.  Inside, the line for the checkout began at the back of the store, and ran like a meandering stream all through the store, which must have taken a couple hours to get through.  Could DVD's at $4.99 really be worth standing in line for hours in below freezing temperatures at 5 am on Black Friday?

I think perhaps we can learn from this experience.  We should have an After Thanksgiving Sale on our listings.  For the next 4 hours only, our sellers are giving away an extra $10,000 in Buyer credit for closing costs!  Hurry!  it is for a limited time only.  Sale begins on Black Friday at 4 am.  You should wear comfortable shoes, and bring a jacket.  Quantities are limited!

Inventories are high, prices have been reduced.  Buyers are not in a hurry.  Perpaps it is time to get creative!  What do you think?

Hey Konnie McKee:

Oh yes.  Things were on sale at Sears that are not normally on sale at all.  It really is worth it to get up that early!

On my way to the gym at 5:45 this morning I saw a packed parking lot at both Walmart and Staples.  It was cold and people were standing in line going around the building at Staples.  I need toner for my printer.  I still need toner for my printer.  No way was I getting into that craziness.

Good one Vicky Poe.  Yes it was craziness.  I saw people at Circuit city lined up outside in the cold.  The line also went around the building!

Ususally we're out in that mess, too, but there wasn't anything really worth it for us this year.

As far as the limited time offers for listings, I think it's a great idea.  But it would have to be really hyped up and of course a phenomenal "deal" to catch the interest of buyers these days.

Very creative idea, maybe next year. I abhor shopping on black Friday, I would rather go shopping  between 3pm and 5pm on Christmas eve.

Very good idea. Maybe next year homes will really be for $10,000 dollars. Ha! Ha! O.k. I'm joking. Great idea. What would come with the homes? A money back guarantee if you don't get the right loan program the 1st time around?

Anyone going out at 4am to go to a store is quite frankly a nut! *lol* - especially these days when the very same sales are available from the comfort of your computer!

Do people really stand in the freezing weather at 4AM to save a few bucks? Are they crazy?  I am a hunter and actually was in the freezing drizzle this morning at 5:30.  But that is different....I was after a few Bucks.

Hi Trey.  I saw the folks out in front of Circuit City yesterday morning at 4:15 am.  They were waiting for the store to open at 5 am.  The line wrapped around the store.  I am not sure what they were giving away that early though

Donald-

Ugh! You actually went to the mall that early???

Not me!! I helped decorate a friend's church before heading to any stores... and I was most disappointed that Home Goods didn't do any sales for Black Friday! At least they weren't crowded with insane shoppers. :-p

I am glad I am not the only one who thought of Black Friday Special. I just read your post. I think your title is more catchy because you got more comments.

Yes, there were many people at the mall at 4 am.  I did notice our home goods store, next to best buy, was closed at that hour.  Perhaps if they had better planning, they would have been open to take advantage of the parking lot which had no open spaces in it at 4 am
