Did you know that Stafford Texas has no Property Taxes? It’s true, they don’t. And it is all because of their mayor Leonard Scarcella. Since 1995 they have gone with a no property tax system. That is a risky plan, but it has worked for 17 years. When many cities, towns and Counties are going bankrupt, how does Stafford make it work? They focus on staying within the budget and use Sales Tax as their main source of income. Along with Hotel Tax, Building permits and franchise tax.
Without Property(real estate) Taxes, it is possible to buy more home in Stafford than in other regions of Fort Bend County or the Houston area. Or buy the same size home but have a lower mortgage payment.
Leonard Scarcella is truly a talented man and a Fort Bend County Legend, for coming up with this plan making it work. US News even named Stafford one of the top ten Cities with a low tax base. Just another great reason to move to Fort Bend County and especially Stafford.
